Hello, I have a really bad tooth, and I know that root canals are not 100% healthy. Anyway, the tooth is quite bad and I know the best thing to do is to extract it.

I would like to know if you have had a tooth extraction with tinnitus and how it went, has it affected your tinnitus or no change?

Thanks a lot and best regards.

      @Amv,
If it is a lower tooth just support your jaw as it can help.
You will be fine so don't worry.

I think she was just saying that root canals are bad for one's health in general. I am not aware of any studies that support this view, but I would be very interested in learning about what people who are against root canals have to say.

I will post a new thread about my experiences with the root canal surgery.

Hi @Amv. Which tooth or molar is involved? The extraction alone is not painful. Make sure you have a good specialist and if you feel uncomfortable you get up and walk out. Do not let them make you feel like you must do it now. Second opinions are very important. Don't be afraid to speak out because you are in such a delicate situation.

Thank you all very much for your responses, all input from tooth extractions and T please let us know!

I leave here the facts that people say why root canals are not that healthy but if you agree lets keep this post for T and extractions and I will open a new thread for the root canal discussion if you agree https://wellnessmama.com/139664/root-canal/

Thank you very much to everyone and if more people has had experience on tooth extraction please let us know! The tooth is the second down molar

Okay. I had to have a root canal (the second molar down on right side) extracted last year. I decided not to undergo an implant for many reasons I do not have time to go into now.

@Amv I do not have any problems with the missing molar. I can eat properly and it is not visible when I smile or anything. My teeth have not moved or caused other problems.

So weigh the different options. Get a second opinion. And trust your gut feeling.

@Starthrower thank you for your response ! My idea is to have the tooth extracted, and then at least wait the 5 months to see what happens, if nothing changes as you keep living with it. Did the extraction changed your T? Thanks a lots!

Having a tooth extracted should not affect tinnitus, except in unusual cases. If you can have the tooth saved by having a root canal performed instead, I would recommend it being done by an endodontist, if possible.

@Amv the extraction did not change (increase) my tinnitus at all. I was quite nervous which was the worse part. I think your plan is a good one. So many dentists or specialists will sort of push an implant or bridge right away. I understand why. But that choice was not one I could make.

Hope this helps and if you have any questions please ask.

Yes for sure. And @Amv you may want to ask about a bone graft following the extraction if you have any bone loss in your jaw. This isn't a big deal thing. But it will help keep the jaw bone strong. And if in the future you decide to do something the graft is done.

They will place the graft in the hole and use a few stitches to keep it in place. This did not affect my tinnitus at all.

Always find the best specialist and trust your gut instinct and do not let them "sell" you.

@Luman @Starthrower thank you very much for your responses!, i fully agree with you and i will proceed this way, just the extraction and wait some months and see how it goes.

If someone else has had tooth extraction please let us know how was your experience and if it changed your T.

      Thanks a lot!!

How did it go? I am trying to decide now between root canal or extraction on a 2nd molar.

@Starthrower, what type of dental surgery was it that caused your tinnitus?
