      Covid happened. Went from white noise in a quiet space to bass tones I hear over everything. Hard to be back here again. Breathe.

        Thanks for asking! Learning to live with the T. Looking into an operation for the H though. Have a new assignment at work because of the ears, but I’m alive. Lol hope you’re well!

        Funny you ask- as of this week, I'm no longer conducting band rehearsals. It's just too loud and def the cause of my T and H spike. I'm now teaching small group lessons for most of my day. More manageable. Always with ear plugs. Hoping things calm down in the next few months. The T and H have won for now.

        That's great to hear. So is it musicians earplugs you use, the ones that reduce the sound level while still maintaining clarity?

        I have the molded plugs and earasers. The molded ones are good for lots of playing- hard to talk with though. The earasers are easier to teach with. I forget they are in sometimes.

        It really is a cruel joke. Had about a month of just low white noise (in quiet spaces). Now it sounds like a party in there all day long. ‍♂️

      Near silence in my right ear for about ten minutes. Didn’t last, but really nice. It was actually weird to hear nothing.

      I’m noticing a pattern with my T. 1 month of white noise followed by a month of pitches. It’s happened about three times now.

      Another week of white noise (which I really don’t mind) as compared to crazy pitches everywhere. Hopefully it lasts this time. H sucks.

        I played guitar for the first time in nearly a year the other day. Some of the strings sounded so harsh when I picked them... It's a damn shame considering I play classical guitar and all my music involves picking. Hurts my ears just thinking about it. However, life is impermanent. Things change. Just gotta make some very hard adjustments.

      @MusicTeacher,
      I was following your thread because I too was a teacher and have a kiddo. You mentioned your child yelled in your ear. That is also what happened to me. My 7 year yelled in my ear during homeschool (remote learning) one day. :-(

        So sorry @MusicTeacher. I've been experiencing the same thing lately but am trying to reframe those new, quieter sounds by telling myself that they're just being created by my head. Seems to work to a point... just wish it would work for the loud and intrusive sounds. Hang in there.

        I have three different methods. Sometimes I go to a very quiet space- accept the sounds, and eventually they start to become secondary to my breath. I’ve noticed I can control the volume of different pitches as well. Sometimes I go to the beach- the wind and waves pretty much bury my tinnitus .

        Lastly, if I can’t deal with the sound, I put in my hearing aids with some white noise to offset everything in my head.
        Since I’ve started meditation (and living healthier) my low tones are 90% gone and the shaking I’ve felt in my chest is much less. All good stuff.

        Mine started off as one relentless sound. Then it was gone about 50 percent of my days. Now I have 3-4 different tone, but all but the first one is so quiet I can only hear it with earplugs. Except from the most recent low hum sound, no idea how that one will pan out.

        This new sound makes me realize how accepting I am of the original sound... I'm not very bothered by it after 1,5 years. I was suicidal for about a year after it started, but that had a lot to do with me not being able to work as a music producer or create music anymore.

        I’m in the same boat with the music. I started with crazy full head noise that settled in one ear, then both ears, then head as well, mostly back to the ears now. My tones are not so silent, but hoping they fade.
