I really cannot emphasize this enough. Please keep posting! Not just here but on places like reddit too. Your positivity has actually rubbed off on me. A post you recently made on here to a 16 yr old in high distress is a perfect example. So very well thought out, full of hope, caring &...

A Short Relief from Tinnitus Followed by Relapse Triggered by Rain Noise

Hi @Tasbloke, How long have you had tinnitus? I am so sorry you are feeling this way. I do not have any real advice to give, as I only just returned to the forum yesterday after years away. I had habituated to my tinnitus and barely noticed or thought about it. I have unilateral tinnitus that...

Podcast at High Volume with Leaf Blower Leads to Severe, Lasting Tinnitus and Sleepless Nights

I was listening to a podcast with Apple AirPods Pro 2 while using a leaf blower. I turned up the volume so I could hear the conversation, and it went on for maybe one and a half to two hours. The result was brutal ringing, mostly in my right ear. I thought it would go away, but it hasn’t. One...

Noise-Induced Hearing Loss Alters KCC2 and GABA Inhibition in the Auditory Centers

The problem with benzos, aside from their addictive potential, is that your body develops tolerance with continued use. One day, X becomes ineffective because your body adapts to X as the new normal, so you need X plus Y. Eventually, that combination becomes ineffective, so you need X plus Y...

Irrigation of ears is something you should avoid if you could @Escalado There are MANY people that have worsened a lot by it - and even left with hyperacusis after it. There are alternatives that can be done manually by a skilled ENT. Better safe than sorry in this matter.

    Tinnitology and Dr. Abraham Shulman

I second that. Does anyone have contact with him anymore? I called the Brooklyn ENT clinic and was told that he is retired. He seems like an expert, and I would really appreciate his help if he is still available.

Noise-Induced Hearing Loss Alters KCC2 and GABA Inhibition in the Auditory Centers

Clonazepam helps me with my tinnitus. Does your statement here mean that the longer it is used, the less effective it becomes?

I Invented a Sound That Knocked Out My Tinnitus

I read this thread long ago. I mentioned that it didn't work for any long-term and reputable members, just the ones that posted only to this thread and disappeared. The figures are wrong, but 51% of traffic would not equate to 51% of posts, so you are conflating two different things. Summing...

How a Furnace Gave Me Severe Tinnitus and What the Last 7 Months Have Been Like

I’m worried that being in a quiet space would make my tinnitus too noticeable. I also don’t think driving is helpful for my recovery, and my left ear responds strangely to human voices. I can watch a movie or go outside without any issues, but if I talk a lot, my left ear goes berserk. When...

I’ve Managed to Quieten Down My Tinnitus After 20 Years

Hi, I'm new here, but tried 4g of Glycine before bed yesterday & it's quieted it quite a bit. Not sure, but maybe down to 20-25% of what it was yesterday. Here's what I'm already doing: -Magnesium Glycinate daily ~250-350mg -Low sugar diet -Eat mostly meat, mostly beef & under 100g carbs...

I did have my ears irrigated. As far as I could tell, it had no impact on my tinnitus. It did, however, open up my hearing. My right ear was pretty blocked, so sounds were amplified for about a week before my system adjusted. I was hearing sounds I hadn't realized I wasn't hearing before. I'm...

I'm so glad to have connected with you and several others. Passing along some optimism to you has helped me, too. I used to barrage ChatGPT with questions and by the end, I was in full blown panic. It didn't help me at all. I feel much less alone having others to share experiences, progress and...

Nobody has to post for me. 51% of all internet posts are bots, so I’m not going to argue with you, as you are most likely a fake bot. Moving to London with Tinnitus — Access to Healthcare? Other Experiences?

I’m just outside London and have had pulsatile tinnitus for a year. I’m still navigating the health system. Hidden Hearing Loss, Ear Fullness/Pressure, Hyperacusis, and Tinnitus After Second Acoustic Trauma

Here's an old military study that shows that hearing continues to heal even after 6 months. The study ends at 6 months, so there’s no information on how long the healing process actually continues, but it does give some hope. I probably wouldn’t put too much stock into the research on...

How a Furnace Gave Me Severe Tinnitus and What the Last 7 Months Have Been Like

Why couldn’t you be in an office now? If your tinnitus is very low for the majority of the day, then objectively there’s no reason you couldn’t work as normal. Working from home is great for a period of time, as it gives you more freedom. I did that myself for about a year during the...

Pulsatile Tinnitus Spike After Hairdryer Exposure at Hairdresser

Hi, I’m 74 years old and have had pulsatile tinnitus for 10 months now. I was given a hearing aid by the NHS, which helped me a lot. I felt I had come to terms with the tinnitus and had even begun to forget about it. I always wore headphones at the hairdresser and at home when drying my hair...

Bilateral Tinnitus After Dental Work: Have I Missed Anything I Should Be Doing?

The timing with the dentist is suspicious, so I’d definitely look into that. I need a root canal myself and I’m dreading it. Have you had a hearing test? I’m five months in with similar noises, a humming sound and a white noise ring in the other ear, after an infection. I’m in Australia as...

Seek out success stories and read them over and over again, whether on this forum or elsewhere. Back After Seven Years: Struggling with a Three-Week Tinnitus Spike and Looking for Motivation

Dysacusis Doesn't Get Better, Does It?

I’ve heard of many people who have habituated to tinnitus with TRT. Even I did, and it went lower after nine months, just by listening to masking sounds. Hyperacusis also has a known strategy of gradual exposure to sounds. It is less well known than tinnitus, but it still has its fair share of...
