4 weeks ago I had a 11.5 hour flight. Didnt used earplugs but did used noise cancelling headphone to cancel somewhat noise. Guess what, no spike at all:). Flying is perfectly safe with Tinnitus if you would ask me.

Sure thing, Bill. Keep in mind that the noise-cancelling works best for continuous lower-frequency sounds. And it won't offer protection from impulse sounds. This is because the mic has to record the sound then the processor has to generate an anti-sound and this takes time.

I use Bose ANC headphones (Quiet Comfort) regularly and haven't noticed any change in my T. When I don't play anything in them and just use the noise cancelling feature, T seems louder, which I attribute to the lack of other sounds drowning it (it's the same as when I plug my ear).

Spike might be from physical activity, not noise. Such spikes are always temporary.

Noise cancelling headphones will not make tinnitus worse unless ofcourse you pump some music through them. I've been using them for about two years with no change in tinnitus, I only use them without music to block out noise in airplanes and other noise places and they work great.

Bose noise cancelling headphones seem to be doing a good job of filtering out airplane engine noise. 3M Peltor earmuffs are also very good, are a lot cheaper, but are less comfortable.

That might explain your spike. You could try Peltor earmuffs + earplugs or noise cancelling headphones + earplugs.
