Hearing Loss and Severe Tinnitus — From Loving Life to Suicidal in 2 Months

Are you noticing any TTTS symptoms? Any fluttering, thumping, or itching in your ear? Burning is sometimes a symptom of trigeminal nerve sensitization that stems from middle ear involvement.

My jaw/ear made a snapping sound the same day it started as well so I'm unsure what's causing it. It is def aggravated by...

That's what I'm thinking too! Given that all 11 patients of Noreña and Fournier's follow-up study had TTTS symptoms with their noxacusis, I'd say there's a majority of us who have these middle ear symptoms that perpetuates the pain. What are the recommended treatments for trigeminal neuralgia...

Here’s the rundown of my current symptoms: TTTS: This happens in reaction to things like plates and silverware, sometimes the shower. Usually it only happens when I’m exposed to the noise, but if...

Hi msintros, was wondering how you are doing? I seem to have the same symptoms as you, looks like a classic case of TTTS. I'm currently in therapy for it, to calm down my chronically hyperstimulated nervous system. But sectioning one of the muscles in my middle ear (the Tensor Tympani) has now...

Thumping in the right ear has happened to me maybe three times since the injury, never in the left ear. I vaguely recall I could have had this...

That does sounds like Tensor Tympani Myoclonus Syndrome (TTTS), which is a type of Middle Ear Myoclonus (MEM). It can react to sounds, to movement, touching face, and spontaneously. I experience it to each of those occasionally. I first experienced it once about 18 months ago (in response to...

If so, this should settle down in the next year, and your tinnitus should be less intrusive or bothersome. Protect your ears from excessively loud...

I have the TTTS type of MEM, sometimes to voices, where it will flutter more frequently, and other times spontaneously without sound stimulus, where it might be a single flutter thump every 30 seconds or so, which it's doing right now. I don't think it's continued for more than an hour at any...

I usually leave my bedroom window open and the ambient sounds mask it, or I leave the air conditioner on. It’s been a bit worse these days but I’m managing it well. I don’t let it bother me too much, the TTTS has been bothering me quite a bit more. Wish you all the best!

About my TTTS (the reaction type), it is more or less the same as it was when it began 2 years ago along with my tinnitus. However, it has its good and bad periods where it will decide not to spasm every time with those sounds you described. But as I said above, I pretty much habituated to it...

I can see TTTS causing rumbling sounds. I can even create the sounds myself by flexing my tensor tympani muscle, but I really do not see how it would cause high frequency tinnitus.
