Glad to Be Back! It's My 13-Year Tinnitus Anniversary

Hello! Thanks for the message. I’m mostly habituated and living a good life. It’s possible, and it’s so worth it. Thanks to my friends here at TT! How about you, my friend?

Warning for People with Noxacusis: For the Love of God, Protect Your Ears!

I just wanted to add a point about using earplugs in the car. My car has double-paned glass on every window, which is becoming more common. When I play music, it’s very hard to hear anything outside. With no music and earplugs, I actually find myself more aware of my surroundings than when music...

I hope so. My hearing has felt blocked for five days since the steroid shot.

After 4 Years of Tinnitus, Right Ear Is Going Bonkers (Muffled / Blocked Hearing, Worse Tinnitus)

Well, @Kain, we’re in a similar situation. I had a steroid shot on the 29th, and today is the 3rd. My ear still feels blocked after the injection, and it’s been five days. I’m not even sure if that’s normal. Google says the ear may feel full and muffled for a few days, but it seems to have gone...

Is Hitting Earmuff Cups Dangerous to Hearing/Tinnitus?

Yeah, doctors aren’t much help for anything other than saying “best of luck.” I guess I’ll have to tough this out like I did after my first acoustic trauma back in 2018. As a postscript, I’m sure they’re related. Those kinds of things don’t just happen by coincidence. It’s not the tinnitus...

Experimenting with DMSO for Tinnitus Relief: Personal Protocol and Early Observations

The 30 percent solution doesn’t really itch much. I hardly notice it, so I may be able to increase the amount of DMSO a little more. The 70 percent solution that I use on my lower back does cause some itching for about 30 minutes, but not over every area where it’s applied. There’s a slight...

Severe Two-Week Tinnitus Spike After Vacuuming Despite Wearing Earmuffs

My spike has already lasted almost two weeks—it’ll be two full weeks tomorrow. I’m really depressed about it. Before this, things were still a struggle, but I was at least trying to stay active. I was learning new things online for potential future work, walking every day, and doing some...

Ear Pain After Accidentally Inserting Finger too Deep into Ear Canal

I really appreciate your reply. I know I can’t expect a lot of responses every time, but it’s still disappointing when I don’t get one for a while. Is Hitting Earmuff Cups Dangerous to Hearing/Tinnitus?

I’ve hit myself with my earmuffs too. I don’t wear them for very long, but I’ve had something similar happen after one of the cups got hit by something—or more like something hit it. It caused pain in the ear. I can’t remember if there was a burning sensation, but there was definitely pain and...

Just wanted to share an update on my situation. I think the infection has run its course, but there still seems to be some irritation or discomfort in my right ear. Is Hitting Earmuff Cups Dangerous to Hearing/Tinnitus?

I’m sorry that happened to you. Could the brief tinnitus wave be a stapedial burst though? The kind where the ear goes silent, then starts ringing, and hearing returns after a few seconds? If that’s what it was, it’s probably not connected to the incident. As for the ear pain, I’d recommend...

I think it’s the Taurine. I take a lot of Taurine throughout the day, and it works to calm the brain. A neurologist who also treats epilepsy told me about Taurine and the amino acid L-Theanine. This happened to me yesterday when a broomstick fell from a hanger and struck me on the right earmuff cup. It caused an enormous shockwave in my ear, as if it were inside a drum, along with a very loud, momentary tinnitus surge. The tinnitus has mostly subsided now, but I’m left with...
