Unfortunately, I don't live in a country where I can get to those services without a referral, so I'm left with my family doctor. However, she is more open to things lately but still is cautious, which I can appreciate.
I'm hoping the NAC hasn't caused damage, as I've read other people...
...So I got afraid instantly, and tried to think if that noise was loud enough to hurt my fragile ears.
I want to specify that I'm on a Clonazepam withdrawal... And my tinnitus is worsening every week: I took 0.5mg Clonazepam for 3 months and I'm following a tapering plan for another 3 months...
There is no real pattern. I take 2-3 mg Diazepam several days a week, and low dose Gabapentin (300-600 mg) every day. I use Clonazepam twice a week to once a week, however usually with Gabapentin and Deanxit.
1 mg Clonazepam is pretty potent in itself, even more so alongside Ambien. It should work in the short term, but taking those benzos regularly always is a concern. I have Lorazepam 0.5 mg prescription for anxiety and don't take every day. It's about half potency of Clonazepam per mg.
...a few days it was horribly loud the majority of the time. Probably like 8/10 on a 1 to 10 scale.
After going to a psychiatrist he gave me Clonazepam which has quieted the tinnitus completely at times, lowered it in general to when it is occurring to a level of about 2-3/10 and made my...
...ear protection all the time—it’s no longer constant, even if life remains limited. What you’re experiencing right now doesn’t mean you’ll become one of those people wearing ear defenders 24/7.
Go to the doctor and get some Clonazepam to at least give yourself a little break for a few days.
...the dosage carefully. You really have to do the same with any benzo. If you reach a point where you have to take enormous amounts of Clonazepam, you may need to taper. On the other hand, I've seen epileptics with myoclonia get up to 20 mg of Clonazepam, which is an enormous dose, but it works...
Hi, I'm new to this forum. I had read that Clonazepam can reduce tinnitus sounds and GP prescribed for me. I took 0.25mg the other day and for about 3 days my tinnitus seemed really good. Wake up on the fourth day and it is back with a vengeance. The question is whether I should take it...
I will be switching to Clonazepam this coming Thursday. My psychiatrist suggested starting with a 0.5 mg dose at night in case it makes me noticeably sleepy. If it doesn’t, he said I could take it either in the morning or evening, depending on which time benefits me the most. He actually wrote...
...and they gave me daily therapy that was so much better than everything I tried before..
Sulpride caps 50 mg 3x2 / Clozapine 25 mg 3x1 / Clonazepam 2 mg 2x1 / Paroxetine 20mg 1+1/2+1/2 / Amitriptylin 25 mg 2x1.
Now, I can peacefully sleep, eat and enjoy my life l do not take Xanax at all and...
@Michael Leigh, I have found Clonazepam to be vital. However, it sometimes takes up to 24 hours to reduce the intensity, and I find the effect lasts for about another 24 hours. The effect seems even more pronounced when I combine it with Deanxit.
Agreed. I occasionally take 0.5 mg of Lorazepam, which has an equivalent potency to 0.25 mg of Clonazepam, and also a shorter half-life. I try to limit my usage to once per week because benzodiazepines can lead to very rapid tolerance. A dose of 0.75 mg of Clonazepam would be equivalent in...
...300 mg of Gabapentin in January and increased the dosage to 900 mg by the beginning of March. During this period, I had taken 0.5 mg of Clonazepam a few times, perhaps three or four times, which significantly reduced my tinnitus for around 5-6 hours. However, at the end of February, I began...
I've recently tried Rivotril (Clonazepam) and it did reduce the loudness of my tinnitus. I'd say by 25-30%. I won't continue as I've pretty much habituated to it but I'll keep it in case of a major setback.
Thank you for the PDF.
The results of this study are interesting because they compare something generally considered ineffective in most cases (pharmacological treatments) with another approach that relies on building suggestibility (TRT). The effectiveness of TRT is measured using a metric...
I have been taking just a very small dose of 0.5 mg Clonazepam or Xanax before sleep for just over a week now, my doctor said at this low dosages I can take it up to one month without the need to taper down afterwards.
Is it safe to stop taking it after 1.5 week 'cold turkey'?
...doses, you could fall without being able to protect yourself. I normally take 150 mg twice—once at night and again if I wake up around 2 or 3 AM.
Right now, I’m taking 450 mg of Pregabalin, 2 mg of Clonazepam, 125 mg of Seroquel, and 30 mg of Mirtazapine. All that does is put me to...
...combines CBT, sound therapy, nutraceuticals, and medications.
Additionally, there’s the Shulman Protocol, which involves Gabapentin and Clonazepam, or Dirk De Ridder’s protocol, which includes Deanxit, Aripiprazole, Clonazepam, and sometimes LDN or Cyclobenzaprine. Some people find relief...
Xanax shouldn't be taken along with the large doze of Clonazepam he took, which is also a benzo, with a much longer half life than Xanax.
Mind over matter might work for stable mild to moderate tinnitus.
This is the best post I’ve read in a while. Until something better comes along, this is your best approach for addressing your tinnitus if it is severe.
...it’s honestly hard to say. I started taking it about 3 1/2 weeks ago, then the very next day got hit with awful upper respiratory viral infection that lasted for 14-15 days. Ears honestly held somewhat stable through all of that despite my awful spike in August that made me switch to clonazepam…
If I find a doctor who will prescribe me and won't ever taper me off against my will, then at what point will I run to problems?
Will it always work if I just up the dose? What to expect other than some amnesia?
Do you take Clonazepam regularly? Does it actually help with tinnitus?
I’ve considered it as well, although doctors in our country are very reluctant to prescribe it.
Clonazepam is effective for me, and I have never experienced any sudden increase in my tinnitus. If you fall asleep and your hissing starts, it's easy to blame the medication since it might seem louder.
Mirtazapine works well for me; it's my preferred medication with a dosage of 2-3 mg along...
Are you still cycling between Clonazepam and Valium? Weren’t you doing 3 days of Clonazepam before switching.
I’m still debating whether to just take it everyday as my situation hasn’t improved. I feel worse if anything.
Is Clonazepam losing its effectiveness in lowering your tinnitus and anxiety? Does it seem like your tinnitus is rebounding to a new higher baseline after coming down off the Clonazepam? It seems like that might be happening with my Lorazepam (Ativan), despite taking only one 0.5 mg pill every...
I take between 0.5 mg and 0.75 mg of Clonazepam on Wednesdays and Saturdays, giving me two days of near normality. Two issues with this: my reactive tinnitus comes back with a vengeance the days after, and I also get rebound depression when off Clonazepam, where I'm seriously down in the dumps...
...if the tinnitus was made worse, but during my withdrawal I was working on CBT and other strategies to reduce my reaction to it.
My only Clonazepam prescription was given to me in August 2017. It was for 1 mg, twice a day, with a total of 42 pills (three weeks’ worth). However, I never took...
...toward the end of the first year. However, I continued to struggle well into the second year, masking for sleep and occasionally taking Clonazepam. That medication definitely helped me sleep better, but I was warned about dependence, so I used it sparingly.
The turning point came when I...
...I am also going to talk with my GP next week about going back on the Shulman Protocol, which includes Gabapentin and a very low dosage of Clonazepam. I used to take 0.5 mg three times a day, and it kept my tinnitus at a tolerable level all the time. I weaned off the Clonazepam during COVID...
Thanks, @Wouter De Blaere! How have Deanxit and Aripiprazole been working for you without Clonazepam?
Could you share any common side effects you've experienced?
Thanks,
Nick
I got tinnitus about 1.5 years ago, and I started seeing the first signs of improvement after beginning Clonazepam, following 10 months of pure hell with loud tinnitus. Now, at 1.5 years, I still have it, but I have a lot of hope for the future, and it doesn’t bother me nearly as much anymore. I...
Do you think there are risks in taking Deanxit alone without Clonazepam? I also got it prescribed by Dr. De Ridder but I am a bit scared about the drug given the number of countries that have decided not to market it. What do you think helps you the most between the two?
There's a thread about Carbamazepine that you might find helpful. Some people report benefits from using it, while others don't. A few members here take it in combination with Clonazepam, though it's worth noting that it can cause negative side effects for some individuals.
...my tinnitus was extremely loud and constantly changing. I thought it was going to be permanent, but after three months, and after starting Clonazepam, it finally went down.
My spike lasted from July to October 24. Now, eight months later, my tinnitus has settled at a baseline that actually...
...loudness or pain hyperacusis? @Cmspgran It took 2 years last time. I was coping with moderately severe tinnitus to a reasonable degree but now completely dysfunctional.
What do you do with clonazepam, is it 0.25mg or higher if you can sense a tough day? Adjust doses to the need kind of thing?
...and a treatment/cure.
What Happened?
I won't go into too much detail in my story, but the condensed version is I began taking Klonopin (Clonazepam) after a noise exposure/panic attack in January 2022, and I got this weird electrical noise in my head. I had had mild tinnitus since 2016 that...
It took me four long months to get off Clonazepam. I’m happy to be off it now because I felt like a zombie for a year and a half. This medication helps you cope only because it turns you into a zombie—nothing more.
That being said, I’ve adjusted to my tinnitus, TTTS, and dysacusis in the best...
...been really interested to see the difference in progress over the last year since obtaining reactive tinnitus/distortions had I not used Clonazepam. Sadly, I’ll never have an answer.
I’ve resorted back to using 7.5 mg of Mirtazapine for sleep, and I’m going to do my best to try and stop...
...last five nights.
Regarding Z-drugs, according to the equivalency chart, my typical max dose of 3 mg of Zolpidem is equal to 0.075 mg of Clonazepam, and I often take about half that much. Also, Zolpidem has a much shorter half-life, so your system is not under the influence nearly as long...
My tinnitus has gotten better since being completely off of Clonazepam, but updosing will likely only lead to more severe withdrawals when coming off, as you have noted through "kindling", which is a very real phenomenon. The longer you are on it, the longer it will take your body to heal. It is...
Clonazepam was a lifesaver for me. I had a massive spike in January 2015, just as I was starting an academic refresher course that was required for me to continue my career. I was in bad shape and out of town.
Luckily, I knew someone from my training period, so I called them, and they gave me a...
