...with my mom since I’ve reverted back to a toddler with this condition. She literally puts me to sleep at night. I’m waiting for this Clonazepam to kick in and am getting nervous that it isn’t. Wondering if the Grandaxin caused some kind of crossover tolerance. I haven’t taken the clonazepam...
:huganimation: @BrysonKingMe, it will improve, it must! You will be glad you didn't take your life but endured the suffering. You stopped taking the Clonazepam on Monday? I hope the reactivity lessens in a couple of weeks.
Clonazepam is strong benzo, 1mg clonazepam = 20mg diazepam, drop should be 10% per week.
Schedule 6. Withdrawal from clonazepam (Klonopin) 3mg
daily with substitution of diazepam (Valium).
(1 mg clonazepam is equivalent to 20mg diazepam)

A lot of people take Clonazepam for years with no issues. If you come off gradually, then there really isn’t an issue. It’s when you stop cold turkey that it’s a problem and even then, if you’re only taking like 1 mg, nothing will happen.
Thank you, @Nick47! I was reading about NMDA receptor antagonists and how they could potentially help with tinnitus, and I know Ketamine falls under that umbrella. It’s unfortunate that Bupropion can aggravate tinnitus. Our community cannot win on anything.
Hello Nick, I had positive experience with Clonazepam 0.125 mg + Gabapentin 300 mg per day. I tried this for a short period, like 5 days, and it works. I was tempted to try the Deanxit + Clonazepam combo prescribed to me so I stopped the Gabapentin and switched to Deanxit. I upped my Clonazepam...
...that this awful condition put a damper on things. The impact it can have is truly soul-destroying at times.
At the moment, I’m taking Clonazepam most days at varying doses, but never more than 0.75 mg a day. It’s definitely lost its effectiveness, but I got tired of the up-and-down...
...then it's only Diazepam, as it has a very long half-life. They would never prescribe short-half-life medications like Lorazepam or Alprazolam. Clonazepam also has a long half-life, so it is less addictive and has efficacy in tinnitus treatment.
Zopiclone is also only prescribed for a few weeks.
...hearing therapist. They rarely encounter patients with my type of tinnitus.
Since 2012, I have been habituated to my tinnitus and take clonazepam as needed—usually for one or two days a month, then I stop. I consider myself habituated. For a better understanding of what I mean by...
I think it is incredibly hard to say, honestly. It is a purely internal perception, so it has no actual volume associated with it, and the relative volume it seems to have compared to the rest of my audio feed is extremely variable. It depends on factors like fatigue, muscle tension, hormone...
@Frayact, Brian started to take Clonazepam, just 4 weeks, very low dosage. He stopped it cold turkey and shortly after he started to experience nasty withdrawal symptoms (hallucinations, as far as I remember). Then he reinstated Clonazepam for 6 weeks and tapered. I recall him saying that while...
...because it was causing stomach issues and didn't help much, aside from aiding sleep. Now, I basically just look forward to taking Clonazepam twice a week, but then I have to deal with the crash and subsequent depression the day after. It's like riding a rollercoaster every week, and it's not...
Yes, clonazepam is addictive, like all benzodiazepines, but clonazepam is probably less addictive due to its long half-life, and doctors often switch patients to clonazepam from other benzos to wean people off benzodiazepines.
I take it daily. I had been taking 2 mg per day, which is the same dose I took from 1999 to 2005, and then again briefly from 2010 to 2011. I am now down to 1 mg per day.
I would say that as the dose has decreased, there has been the usual difficulty that comes with benzodiazepine tapering. I...
@Leila on a good note after taking 0.5mg of Clonazepam as a last resort slowly over Thurs afternoon I calmed down, slept great and had a whole day the next day of feeling 90% normal. I’m wondering if crossing over to Clonazepam is the way to go in the short term bc returning to Grandaxin has me...
All I know is I'd still have a livable level of tinnitus and some sound tolerance if I hadn't been pushed to take Clonazepam everyday. You probably build tolerance and get worse. I would stay away from all drugs if I were you. If you can live without drugs and eat a low inflammation diet and...
There are past posts from members who stated they needed 30 mg or even more of Mirtazapine to sleep, after lower doses didn't help.

That's probably...
I asked my doctor about Clonazepam and he refuses to prescribe it unless it's for epilepsy or end of life. He said it's much more addictive than Alprazolam which surprised me.
Clonazepam is no longer amazing. I couldn't stick to "once or twice a week," and it's lost effectiveness. The first time I took it, I fell asleep in the afternoon, which I haven't been able to do since before this started. The second time I took it, I had a couple of drinks, and I remember...
Many lives have been lost and ruined by benzos; especially tinnitus sufferers who made the mistake of being on Clonazepam daily.
I am stuck at 1.5 mg daily and I have worse tinnitus than I could have ever imagined being able to live with. I wish more people were like you and advocated for...
This is not necessary an answer to your question, but I've been on Clonazepam for 3 years now (0.3 mg at first, 0.7 mg now) and while my tinnitus was mild back then, it's now a terrible nightmare of multiple tones including a loud low hum, an unmaskable static and 2 high pitched pure tones.
I...
