Computer Intel CPU Cooling Fan Noise Irritated My Noxacusis — Here's My Solution

I have heard of others doing this too. Might have to take that approach. I have so many cables coming out of my PC, not sure how it will work when I want to use it for VR too... I might be ok with just wearing noise-cancelling headphones indefinitely. Maybe I risk becoming too sensitive to...

    Bose Noise Cancelling

I'm certainly of the belief that people with hyperacusis should not wear noise cancelling headphones for long periods. Wearing them to reduce environmental noise is all very well (and can lull the user into a false sense of security) but once the headphones are taken off, environmental noise...

Noise-Cancelling Headphones for Socialising — Dangerous for Hyperacusis?

I couldn't live without my noise-cancelling headphones. I highly highly recommend them. Bose makes the ANC earbuds so they are more discreet, don't block out as much noise as the headphones, but are still good. Just make sure you don't get ones with Bluetooth because you can't just shut off...

    Ear Plugs and Concerts

It sounds like these were noise-isolating or noise-cancelling earbuds from Bose. Given that earplugs reduce the noise by at most 30 dB, I doubt the noise reduction of his earbuds was considerably lower than that of earplugs.

What Noise-Cancelling Headphones / Earbuds Don't Have Insanely Loud Low Battery Warning?

For me the XM4 Sony headphones I'd say was the main cause of my tinnitus because of a malfunction in the noise cancelling, and then they gave a loud feedback, like a really LOUD beep noise and my hearing was completely messed up after that. But I'd still say it was partially my fault since I had...

Hiking and Camping in High Winds — Do I Need Hearing Protection?

I agree. Ear plugs are supposed to help but the worse the tinnitus is, the worse it for wearing plugs because the tinnitus is isolated or not masked at all as outside noise is blocked off. I don't know if this is a good idea but noise cancelling headphones might muffle the wind enough? I dunno.

Do Noise-Cancelling Headphones Protect from Loud Noise Exposure?

Yes, but they have their limits. They can't cancel out everything. They'll do a pretty good job at cancelling out most "normal sound" but don't expect them to be perfect in handling acoustic trauma bursts (like a gunshot): they are not designed to protect you against that.
