Yes, I have had sinus issues as long as I can remember. Always a runny nose. Tested for allergies, but I don't have any. But my hyperacusis is definetely from noise damage, although I can't rule out that maybe my sinus issues exacerbates the pain.

Allergies can indeed exacerbate tinnitus. It is likely to persist for a while (days/weeks) as the inflammation from the reaction clears up, but it should get better.

Ok, you might have what is called eustachian tube dysfunction. Do you have any allergies? If you don't know you should get any allergy test. Also look into purchasing the "EarDoc".

I tried both Plantago and Dymista... Dymista is a DREAM, especially helping allergies, it’s the only thing I’ve found helps me stop chronically sneezing in the summer months. Plantago didn’t do anything for me and it is horrid to drink!

Everyone's allergies are different but I take Dymista, a prescription nasal spray, and O T C Allegra for mine. No tinnitus or hearing effects. Did your Xyzal cause them?

Yep it's happened to me with congestion due to seasonal allergies. But once I took Claritin for a few days to clear that up, my problem was resolved.

Hi, I use regular allergy shots so I can avoid taking medication. They work really well and are probably much safer than medication. There is a prescription for allergies called singulair which doesn’t mention ototoxicity, but you never know.

It very well could be. I'm not as knowledgeable as some others on this forum, being a newbie myself, but you causing tinnitus with the Valsalva maneuver sounds like ETD to me. Also could be allergies or congestion from a cold that you had.
