Late August and early September was taking Claritin and Nasonex for seasonal allergies. I take propecia (daily for the last 4 years). Beyond that, nothing else (aside from the 6 days of prednisone after the fullness started late December/ early Jan).

    New to Tinnitus

...forum after so much frustration trying to control this thing. It started about 2 months ago after a bad allergy attack. I live in Austin so allergies are super high here. So the tinnitus continued after I felt better. I tried Prednisone-didn't work, and antihistimines-didn't work and made me...

...I just joined Tinnitus Talk and discovered a wealth of information. I have had tinnitus since 1950, age 10. From birth I have had allergies, hay fever, sinus problems and back then in the 40's, 50's and 60's, Penicillin was the cure for everything! Sometimes it is really bad, and then it...

...of trauma until 7-14 days, then it will have done all the damage it can do. Yes, some improve even after months although that suggests another additional cause for the tinnitus. For example, allergies? Some also get temporary effects like with benzo. For most, myself included, nada effects.

How Long Is the List I'm On?

Also, try a sinus rinse for the excess mucus. If it's brought on by allergies than a steroid spray like dymista would help. Breathing in steam is also good for clearing your sinuses and Eustachian tubes. Try adding some menthol as well.

Tinnitus, TMJ, Headaches, Neck Pain, Facial Pain, etc. — Possible Treatment

I too am very allergic to grass and tree pollens too. At first i thought allergies where the cause, as my T stared continuously somewhere around the time summer started and i was very irritated by my allergies. Anyone's Tinnitus Caused by Allergies? If So, What Medication Have You Tried to Get Relief?

zpack has some possible ototoxicity. You can find details if you google. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10778901 I don't mean to scare you: it's unlikely this happened to you, but you should be aware of the possibility and talk to your doctors about it. There's a chance it'll go away in...

    Can Antidepressants Cause Hyperacusis?

No one knows... It is possible something in the Eustachian tube was damaged by very loud noise but to assume this is allergies to entirely TMJ related is problematic.

Tinnitus and Terrible Pressure in Eustachian Tubes After a Viral Infection in Lymph Node

It's a bit more nuanced than that: there are 2 kinds of "Sudafed" for congestion. One of them has been the target of the FDA's advisory. As far as I can tell, the other one (which requires showing ID to the pharmacist) has not been deemed to be ineffective. This matches my experience as well...

Do I Have ETD If I Can Pop My Ears with the Smallest of Effort? My Ears Also Pop by Themselves

I wonder if I have ETD as well, my ears can pop by themselves and also get that crackling when I swallow. It doesn’t happen all the time but enough to get annoying.

    Hay Fever & Tinnitus

Yes it can. Pollen can irritate your sinus and ears making extra mucous that causes tinnitus to flair up so antihistamines will help ease the symptoms. As a sever asthmatic I suffer badly with allergies throughout the year....lots of love glynis

A Friend's Tinnitus Has Gone Away

Anti histamine will reduce the inflammation in your sinussen, which means less fluid , and therefore less pressure on the nerves. Whether it will help you or not depends on the cuase of your T. PT might be cuased by allergies/overactive imuunsyteem.

My Ear Has Suddenly Got So Loud

You should go to the doctor. When I had a bad spike and was panicking that's what I did. And to my relief, the doc saw my ears were filled with fluid due to allergies. After a few days my symptoms got better.

Should I Go Back to the Doctor?

Agreed, visit the doctor. If you feel fluid in your ears, there may be fluid in your ears... It could be related to allergies, inflammation of/around the Eustachian tubes can cause both a middle ear fluid buildup and tinnitus. (I'm not a doctor, though!)

Here Is How I Solved My Tinnitus — New Protocols and Supplements To Try

Marlene - yep that's inflammation which is causing your problem most likely. Resolve the inflammation and the T will get better. Note - for bad allergies I really do like the combination of supplements - and especially add in the Chinese medicine (Herba Plus) -- it helps.

    My Journey to Silence

@Agrajag364 Dental work definitely was the starter for me, plus horrible allergies and maybe an acoustic trauma. Look at all avenues. I believe my tinnitus was caused by multiple factors, like a glass that eventually overflowed and the T settled in. Good luck!
