    2024 US Presidential Election

Very ironic, indeed! Also, the fact that he got tinnitus from gunshots? There were certainly many of those during World War II, I would imagine. I’d guess it caused the highest number of gun-inflicted tinnitus sufferers in the history of humankind. Was he right about that? Nothing like a little...

Ear Pressure and Pain After a Restroom Hand Dryer and Child Screaming

Yeah, my ears have just been aching for the past few days. I’m still having trouble figuring out whether it’s from sound or not. They seem to hurt after certain sounds, even ones that don’t seem too loud, but then I also get pain just from moving my head a certain way. It shifts from the right...

Am I the Unluckiest Person on Earth When It Comes to Tinnitus? My 6-Year Tinnitus Nightmare: How One Festival Changed My Life

You may be right about that. I’ve already come across this theory on Tinnitus Talk. It’s neither reassuring nor optimistic to read, because it makes you realize how fragile and damaged our ears really are, and how easily their condition can deteriorate again. I always wonder, how on earth do...

Severe Tinnitus Spike After Manual Earwax Removal

Hello, I had my earwax removed because my ears felt blocked, and my tinnitus became louder, especially in my left ear, which was fully blocked by the wax. The removal was done manually, not through microsuction or any similar method. Since the removal, my tinnitus has been extremely loud...

My Experience with Manual Ear Wax Removal — A Temporary Tinnitus Spike

Hello @Static Sophie 73, Thank you so much for your post. I removed my earwax manually one week ago, and now my tinnitus is spiking a lot. I would rate it around 9 out of 10. Normally, it stays around 3 to 4 out of 10, and it’s usually quieter at night. But now, even after sleeping, it’s at 10...

Struggling with a New Tinnitus Tone After Noise Exposure: Can It Get Better Two Months Later?

Hi, First, I apologize for any mistakes, as English is not my first language. I’ve had tinnitus for five years. It took about three years to habituate and for it to stabilize or improve. It was a long journey, with many ups and downs, including occasional spikes. On bad days, it was already...

University of Pennsylvania: Advances and Perspectives in Auditory Neuroscience (APAN) 2025 Meeting

Tinnitus and hyperacusis patients have much in common with the deaf and hard of hearing. So it makes sense to network with one another when it comes to research, rehabilitation, and therapy, even if some of the treatments might be considered outliers. I recently came across a photo of research...

Finding Relief: My Journey with Tinnitus, Hearing Aids, and Zinc

I’m in the UK and about to get hearing aids to use as sound generators. I’m not getting my hopes up too much, but if the pulsatile tinnitus could decrease by even 10 or 20 percent, I think that would make a huge difference. I have had a lot of scans, and while some findings did show up, they...

Yet another study is making use of the UK Biobank. However, the investigation into white matter volume is not new, and as far as I know, it has not, on its own, led to any further discoveries. I purchased a Lenire in 2023. I followed the recommended treatment prescribed by the audiologist, and since that had no effect, I also tried alternative approaches, such as shortening the duration of use. That also did nothing for me. For $4,000, I expected more than nothing.

I use Westone custom earplugs with 9 dB filters, which I wear for extended periods when I am around people who might be speaking loudly — basically any group of more than three people. They are very comfortable in my ears and seem to reduce the incoming volume evenly across all frequencies.
