For anyone in the Boston, USA area, there will be a dinner on October 21, 2017 sponsored by Hyperacusis Research featuring two researchers from the laboratories at Massachusetts Eye & Ear.

"Better Choices to Manage Everyday Noise" will be the featured presentation at a fundraising dinner for Hyperacusis Research Limited at East Congregational Church of Milton at 6:30 PM on Saturday, October 21, 2017. The featured speaker is Hideko ("Heidi") Nakajima, M.D., Ph.D., Associate Professor of Otolaryngology at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. Additional speakers include Xiying Guan, a postdoctoral research fellow of Eaton-Peabody Laboratories and Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and Dan Gauger, Distinguished Engineer at Bose Corporation.

The presentations will include informative details on basics of the auditory system, how to keep your ears healthy and the basics of noise reduction techniques. Also, a brief overview of hyperacusis will be given. Hyperacusis is a hearing condition that causes a person to be unable to tolerate everyday noise levels without discomfort or pain."

The level is now at 90%. Just 10% more to go. It's now at $13,509 out of $15,000.

Please donate whatever you can.

"We hope to raise over $15,000 toward a pledge to fund two grants with the Hearing Health Foundation, one to Mass Eye and Ear, and one to the University of Buffalo to study the causes of hyperacusis and the interaction between sound perception and the sensation of pain."

Thank you both, @lymebite & @Lex for posting the information regarding this. Although, I no longer have H, I remember well the suffering and misery that goes with it. It's not something that you forget. Every day I think of those of you that have severe T, H or both because I've been there and may be there again some day.

Additionally, I want to let the forum members from the USA know that it is a certified tax deductible donation. Just print your email receipt that they send you.

At this writing, we're now up to: $13,659 - 91%

96% now, just 4% more. If I could give more than what I already did, I would.

Any small amount will do. Let's hit the target please!
