Just had a look at that thread. Not sure what to make of it to be honest, but yes, hope it's an exceptional case.

I would have thought the lack of engine noise would provide a greater amount of comfort. But if it's wind noise that caused the spike, or potentially white noise coming from tyres on the road, then I guess that kind of thing is unavoidable and earplugs should be considered, particularly for people with hyperacusis.

 

I'm beginning to think there's an imposter in our house because if YouTube were following me around the Internet it would be punting out videos of car parts

Wow this is nuts. I just looked it up and Chelsea actually won a FA cup and their first ever UEFA Cup in 2012 with a caretaker manager named Roberto di Matteo. It says he was appointed to full time manager under a 2 year contract after winning those 2 cups, but was removed shortly after during the following season. I’m a little perplexed because here’s a guy who just helped your club win their first ever UEFA cup, as an interim no less and they just get rid of the guy less than a year like it’s nothing. I would’ve at least given him the 2 years.
But apparently the frequent replacement of managers is working for them. Go figure.

It seems like someone does not have their priorities in order. Performative activism especially when you’re doing it sports (in another country no less) is a big “yikes” on my end.

If my team was being managed by someone already knee-deep in postmodern “progressive” ideology and shallow race politics, I’d lose interest very fast as well. I feel like you and I are on the same page when it comes to the topic of wokeness. For the past few years, I’ve been disillusioned with it myself.

But a couple of things for you to consider next time you'd like him to beat the likes of Djokovic/Nadal/Tsitsipas:

a) He has no decorum.

He has been rude and unsportsmanlike in every competition and tournament he's been in since his debut.

Just one example at the 2015 Montreal Masters:

b) He's a weak player.

While he is in the best form I've ever seen him in this year, I'll give him that, his tennis is weak... because he cannot play without throwing his opponent off (using the above tactics exampled in a).

Players like Nadal and Djokovic are worthy of respect because they focus only on their game. They don't try to distract and/or wind up the guy on the other side of the net, or hold up play, or blame drunk women in crowds for their unforced errors. They just play straight up tennis and zone out the goings on around them.

In time, Stefanos Tsitsipas will reach this zenith, like his contemporaries, but as it stands he is currently too green, and despite being an amazing player, succumbed to the irritant that is Kyrgios.

c) He has a "victim mentality".

The guy claims to be the underdog in every match, even when he's got the better deal.

One of the reasons I love Djokovic is that he never complains, and he had every reason to complain going into this final, as Kyrgios was spared an exhausting semi-final against Nadal (who had to pull out due to injury) and gifted an automatic place in the final. Djokovic on the other hand, had to play his semi-final against an amped up Cameron Norrie and as a result had only one day to recover (Kyrgios had three).

But which of them felt they were at a disadvantage? Kyrgios of course...

All that said. He earned back some of my respect this year, because he has clearly put some real effort into training (finally), after years of making very little, and playing the rebel with statements like"I definitely don't love the sport" and "I can't take it seriously" in interviews. And for his support of players like Djokovic to be allowed the decision to refuse the COVID-19 jab. Also, he is admittedly very entertaining to watch.

 

Look, I know he can be a total wanker but he's my wanker. Meaning, one fellow Australian supporting another.

Yeah, the Australian Open vaccine debacle with Djokovic was one of the most cringiest display of political tribalism I’ve witness to date. I mean wasn’t the dude already infected with the virus? And it was known that the vaccines do not prevent spread among the vaccinated either.

It takes a month to find out the results. I didn’t send it off straight away because I was hesitant about giving my DNA over as it will now always be on file now for different companies and governments to do what they want with it...

But, then I thought I’m gunna be dead one day anyway, and so in the grand scheme of things, life is utterly pointless and fleeting and we have no control over anything, so I might as well send it. Lol.
