      Hi, I'm thinking about getting custom moulded earplugs for daily usage and just going out to people. Of course. I'm trying to fight my hyperacusis for like 2 years now and I'm at point when i can take the shower, talk and do things around the house without earplugs (but moving plates still kills me lol, need to do that carefully) but I think that's the limit before my tinnitus starts to be reactive and getting worse, It's just the limit and that's it (still a lot of improvement comparing to before where I couldn't leave my room without earmuffs but it seems that everything above current state involves risking of making my tinnitus worse)

      Recently I turned 22 and some strange things happened in my life that I know I can't live in isolation anymore, I NEED to see other people, I need to have friends, I can't live alone in my room for life. I can't let tinnitus destroy my life completely before it's too late and being alone forever is one of those things.

      I saw that a lot of people here recommends ACS Customs but sadly, they're not available in Poland where I live. I found a Polish company (HASPRO) that specializes in custom moulded earplugs for various of use cases like work, music, sleep etc.

      This is specification of their HASPRO Pro plugs for musicians and party goers (and for people with hyperacusis I think lol) that I think are comparable to ACS Pro plugs when it comes to design.

      Important thing to note is that's EU SNR not US NNR data.

      Also it seems that filters are patented by Etymotic Research.

      Do you think this Pro 30 filter would be enough for a city? It's not very large like NY or something, just 350k citizens but you know it's loud when ambulance or police with sirens pass you. I thought about getting 30 filters for the city and 25/15 filters if I would just go and meet some people where I know it's not that loud (like house for example where I just don't feel confident enough, meeting should be fun not nervous, or some calm part of the city like park). Thankfully filters are interchangeable so that's not a big problem to change them on the go.

      I still need the info from them about how they deal with Occlusion Effect but we'll see, they're the best option in my country I think.

      I think that's the best option, off the shelf plugs like Alpine have horrible occlusion effect and foam plugs blocks everything that you just can't talk and enjoy meeting anyone (and your ears hurts after a while especially during summer).

      There are also other earplugs called Static for people that work in loud environment but they look and work differently so I don't know if they would be a good call.

      Sorry for not being able to offer any experience about the custom ones and instead asking a question.

      What kind of Alpine plugs do you use? I'm planning to buy a MusicSafe Pro. I've been using Alpine Party Plugs for transportation and being out in the city, because foam ones are horrible if I need to communicate. I don't experience the occlusion effect. I actually don't experience much with the Party Plugs. They muffle my hearing a little bit, but other than that, nothing. I know they offer moderate level of protection, that's why I'd like to upgrade to MusicSafe Pro. I have WorkSafe Plugs too, but they are black and I prefer the translucent ones.

      If I remember correctly Party Plugs are similar to MusicSafe Pro in terms of level of protection but I could be wrong.

      Personally I haven't usex them but from what I was talking with people Occlusion Effect is there and also too little protection for the city so now I want to go for custom moulded ones. Also from what I understand, as custom ones are ideally fitted for my ear canal, they should be easy and fast to take on and off, no more fiddling to put earplug right when you have to. That's also very bad with normal earplugs because sometimes it's hard to get them right when you don't have much time.

      Now I use foam plugs but it's a horror, they block everything, it's hard to talk, they're hurting my ears after a while. Good to just survive, bad to enjoy anything.

      @Snake

      You have the right idea by not wanting to isolate yourself and prefer to go out socialise and make friends. This is one of the best self help methods in treating and overcoming hyperacusis and moving forwards with your life. I advise you to think carefully about wearing custom moulded or noise reducing earplugs too regularly and especially on a daily basis, as you risk lowering the loudness threshold of your auditory system, which can make you more sensitive to sound. Used correctly they can beneficial but prudence must be exercised. Please click on the link below and read my post: Hyperacusis, As I see it.

      All the best
