Hi, you could just call me John. I'm 19 and noticed my T beginning out-of-the-blue four days ago in only my right ear. Throughout the next few days, it's perhaps spread to both and I can hear it very well over the sounds of moderately noisy rooms. I tried clearing my right ear out with some hydrogen peroxide, but now I have some sort of painful pressure inside of it a day later.

I don't really know what to say, but there hasn't been a day since that I haven't reduced myself to a weeping mess because of this. I suspect this T came about from many years of playing music and stuff through earbuds, which is a shame because I thought I had always been careful about volume. I really enjoyed my music and quiet time- needed it even- and now it has possibly been taken away from me for life.

I have to get up for class in six hours, but the thought of laying in bed to fall asleep is upsetting and stressful to me. As a result, I'm procrastinating on doing so by writing my first proper post, I guess.

I have an appointment with my family physician this Thursday. And I'll try to chat with you all in a better mood soon. Thanks.

@John Doe,
Ask your doctor for something help you sleep.
Choices -
Natural sleep aids
Melatonin
Sleeping tablets
Relaxation
Relaxing bath

A low dose AD can help sleep and anxiety more long term .

The unwanted emotions can be overwhelming in the early months adapting to Tinnitus as you adjust to your sound .

Keep posting for support as we are here around the clock to support you.

Love glynis

About to leave for class now, and I realize that my 1st post wasn't done with the best judgement lol. I get highly emotional, so this is a huge test for my patience. Thank you for the support, Gylnis. Looking forward to joining discussion with you all soon.

Hmm, my physician had to cancel so now I have to wait until next week. I have low expectations as to how it'll turn out anyways.

Family physician may not be able to help much. An ENT perhaps can find out condition of your ears, such as whether you have infection, ETD, fluid in ears, etc. In the meantime Glynis has given you excellent advise. Perhaps also consider having masking sounds to help sleep and and be less stressed out by the ringing. If you have not tried masking your T yet, below are some suggestions. Take good care. God bless.

1) Mask at bed time by using a sound pillow or sound machine with pillow speakers. There are good sound machine & pillow therapy systems like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Sound-Oasis-...d-Oasis-Therapy-System-Speakers/dp/B00MH5HKTA

2) If you need masking on the go, try load an ipod with nature sounds or music using itune. If you have a smart phone, you can download free APPs for soothing or T-masking sounds. Use wisdom in the use of headphones or earbuds as extended use or excessive volume may hurt your ears. Try set the volume slightly below that of your tinnitus.

3) With PC & speakers, you can try these excellent masking sounds to see which one masks best:

TT's audio player: https://www.tinnitustalk.com/audioplayer/

or this online sound library, particularly the self-mix nature sounds: https://mynoise.net

or download free sound generator 'aire freshener': http://www.peterhirschberg.com/mysoftware.html

or click play to mix these sounds with this simple sound generator: http://asoftmurmur.com/

or search youtube with words like 'tinnitus masking sounds', 'white noise', 'rain sound' etc.
