Yeah of course, but I’m not going to watch the procedure on screen while they insert the needle into my ear.

I don’t know if you really need to stay like that for so long, but it’s what I remember that another Tinnitus Talk user told us.

@lymebite says it was only 10 minutes for him for a steroid injection. Perhaps that’ll be enough for FX-322 as well.

They gave me the option, of course. I think I recall them saying most patients preferred not to watch the procedure. But I’m not queasy about this sort of thing and wanted to watch it. :)

So to have FX-322 injected into your ear, would they need a camera or do they just inject it straight in without a camera?

      Intra-Tympanic Steroid Injection for Sudden...

There’s plenty videos on YouTube about intratympanic injections.

      30 minutes:
      keep ear turned up
      no swallowing
      no ear popping
      no yawning
      no blowing the nose

I've had that injection done for a steroidal infusion (didn't help hearing loss, sometimes it does if done quickly enough), and not swallowing for a half hour was the toughest part. The injection itself wasn't fun but honestly, half of it for me anyway was the notion of a needle there; everything in your sensory system is built to prevent that from happening. But it's just a moment.

A thought I wanted to share. If we manage to regenerate our hearing, wouldn't that be too much for our poor brain to handle? It has adapted to our current state of hearing. Wouldn't everything sound loud and unbearably trebly?

I have a question: if your tinnitus went away but still have hearing loss would you still have FX-322 as a precaution?

That often happens with hearing aids. Most hearing aids have a setting for new users which starts at low amplification and brings the full gain in over weeks or months. Improvements in hearing from hair cell regeneration would also come in over weeks or months. Plenty of time for us to adapt.

You'd have FX-322 cause you don't want to have hearing loss.

FX-322 is meant to regenerate hearing, treatment of tinnitus is on their exploratory arm. If you have hearing loss (i.e. OHC death) you are the target audience for FX-322.

My audiogram shows 30 dB threshold between 4 kHz - 8 kHz in one ear. I struggle to hear above 13 kHz though. I think it's those countless hours in the studio mixing and mastering. My Audiologist doesn't seem worried but I do, I want to be able to clearly hear the difference between lossless and lossy compression again without a high pitch ring distracting me.

Ah, I see what you’re asking. Your audiologist is not worried because there are no clinical treatments for tinnitus or hearing loss and there is nothing they can do. Your audiologist would likely be worried if you were consistently worsening, which they could intervene in. Remember here at the Tinnitus Talk research category we’re living on the cutting edge of science!

If FX-332 works as it seems to (I’m keeping my language cautious until we get those phase 2a results), it will be a treatment for the hearing loss that bothers you, and potentially the tinnitus as well.

It would not be taken as a precaution in the absence of tinnitus, but rather as a treatment for hearing loss.

I hope this answers your question!

Yes it does. So in my case with a little hearing loss more sound input from FX-322 treatment would help mask the tinnitus in the worst case scenario.

Orthokine is not FDA approved but maybe they have a similar regulatory agency in Germany?

Yes, from what I have heard people falsify injuries to have the procedure, they are chasing the cytokine effects for systemic conditions that science still has no treatment for, very hit and miss for $10k. The clinic is supposedly full of older American pensioners every weekend.

I have kind of the same thing going on. How do we end up with this high frequency loss when the typical "noise notch" is said to be around 4-6 kHz? If I do a frequency sweep, once I reach over 12 kHz the tone seems to disappear behind the tinntus.

If FX-322 is good at regrowing hair will it help with male pattern baldness?

I'm guessing yes and I could have sworn they had alopecia on their website at one point but it's no longer there. Maybe I dreamt it.

Their alopecia drug is in pre clinical. It's not FX-322 I don't believe.
