Cause of Tinnitus
Sudden Hearing loss
Hi,

I am 33 years old and I've got tinnitus since 4 years now. It started in my right ear after a break up with a girlfriend and got worse over the years. basically every time something happens that makes me really sad my tinnitus gets worse. Last week I got diagnosed with otosclerosis on both ears and now I got a new tinnitus in my left ear and hyperacusis + louder tinnitus on my right ear. The new left tinnitus sounds like a dentist is drilling. I am just happy it's not that loud in my left ear.

Sometimes I get very extreme tinnitus like a bass box is on your ear but that seems to be only the case when my neck is really tense.

Sorry for any grammar mistakes.
Kind Regards
Loaky

I have an operation next year... do you think it will be better after that?

There is a high chance that your surgery (I assume a stapedotomy) is going to close your air bone gap and improve your hearing.
There is about at 50/50 chance that it will help your T a lot.

I did the surgery a couple of years ago. It helped my hearing but not my T, most likely because my otosclerosis had caused sensorineural losses and its associated T, which surgery wasn't supposed to help with.
