Cause of Tinnitus
ear infection
I've recently (~ 2 months ago) developed Tinnitus due to an ear infection. I've had (adult) ear infections before without T, so this is new for me. While I had the infection, I had both pulsatile and regular T in both ears. Now I "just" have regular T, and occasionally I can hear quiet pulsatile tinnatus in my left ear, especially after exercise or anything that makes my heart race. I had a bunch of follow-up appointments with my ENT and they said the infection is definitely gone and the T... basically just live with it. They offered to do a hearing test, but my insurance won't cover (much) of it, so I didn't do it. Even if I did lose some hearing, I don't need a number to tell me that. As far as what's perceivable to me on a daily basis, I feel like I can hear fine; it's not noticeably worse than before. I might do a hearing test in the future if/when I have better insurance.

So for now, I guess I'm just... hoping it still might be temporary, trying to take good care of my ears and my body, but trying to habituate/be okay with the fact that it might be permanent.

400 for a hearing test ! - does the test includes a four course dinner with fine wines and caviar ?

Use the general fuzz site it's free

My doctor said $400.

I have had a LOT of hearing tests in the past 4 months.
I also downloaded a hearing test app for my phone, it's called 'Hearing Test', and the results seem pretty accurate for me. I use headphones, it's not calibrated, but the app tracks your hearing tests so as long as you use the same headphones in a quiet environment you can tell if your hearing is changing.
