Or the sound of my operating system. Actually it kinda is.

I've always wanted to be a robot. Or cyborg.

I had to invent this for myself to keep myself going.

      It helps. For a moment.

      Role-playing.

Well you are not far off. It is actually the bodies own sound. There was an experiment I believe where they put people in an extremly quiet room and 93% "developed" tinnitus, because they started to her their own interior when no other sound was presence. And during stress, fear and depression you will likely hear more of ur internal sounds because your nervesystem is going berserk.

Yes, I've heard my internal sounds before this. Not as lound of course. That is why it's very interesting if we receive hearing damage but out internal sounds start to sound louder.

Hey, it’s a heck of a lot better than how most ENT’s respond... “eh, you just need to learn to live with it”. However, it probably wouldn’t gain a lot of ecceptance in the medical field if the ENT replied to the panicky newborn Tinnitus sufferer that.... “here’s the deal, from now on you need to pretend your a cyborg, and this is simply your operating system you are hearing.” Or, as the British would state,....”Not to worry, it”s just a flesh wound!”

Street fighter is one of my favourite games. As I also love the quote from Ryu:

"whatever you find worthwhile in life is worth fighting for"

And right now I feel I need to fight hard...

Same used to love street fighter, haven’t played it since sf4 though.

Love that quote man, as cheesy as some may find it, I think it rings true.

Did you hear about the guy who went to the doctor in tears, because he was convinced he was a moth.
      The doctor said
“You need a psychiatrist not a doctor
      - what did you come in here for...?”

      “The...light...was...on.....”

Yea. Also dr Josef Rauschecker, the guy who did the amazing TED talk talking about tinnitus showed that people that suffer from tinnitus, wether it's due to loud noise exposure, illness or surgery, the part of their brains that are most active are the same parts and areas that are responsible for depression, fear and stress. That's why Im a strong believer that any tinnitus can be reduced by destressing and finding inner harmony.

During stress and fear, your audiosystem becomes 3x stronger. So the sounds you hear outside, when they reach your ears, they become 3x stronger, hence the hyperacusis. Your system feels threatened and is ultra active and snaps up everything, it's a survival instinct.

Even if this was true, which i personally don’t think so, it’s clear that the degree to which someone can reduce their tinnitus varies greatly.

I also believe that hyperacusis is also a defense mechanism. I damaged my hearing, now I am sensitive to certain sounds. I guess my body is trying to protect me from such sounds for further damaging myself.

Also, it could be a backup system. Tinnitus masks some sounds yet makes some sounds stronger so we can still hear animals, water, rivers etc. Around us.

It's a theory. Thin. But theory.

Did you hear about the guy who was terrified that he was turning into a dog.
He told the doctor his ‘woof’ ‘woof’ fears.
The doc said don’t be so silly, I’ll see if I can help you. Get up on the couch.
I can’t help you if you don’t get up on the couch!

      “Woof....woof woof......woof......
I’m not allowed on the couch...woof woof!”

      (apologies may be in order.....?)

Has anyone tried this method of imagining they are actually making the tinnitus sound consciously, then were able to control it to some degree?
