Here we go! I've always wanted to start this thread on here!

So here is a thread where you can post some important things you've learned about life, yourself, etc thus far in your life! I think we all have a little wisdom that'd we like to pass on to others. :)

Disclaimer: Most of these posts will be some form of what I'd like to call "YOUR truth" and may not apply to everyone. Disagreements are natural but not an excuse to bash someone. Also, remember to stick to the forum rules and etiquette.

I'll start first!
  • You are not the same person you were five or ten years ago and you will not be the same person five to ten years from now.
  • Taking responsibility for your problems doesn't mean that you are at fault for them.

  • There will always be a bright day that eventually comes after your darkest day.
  • Life is worth pushing through even if you don't know what will happen tomorrow
  • Tomorrow doesn't really matter, everything that is important is happening right now.

- Things always seem worse than they really are.

It's okay to be upset. It's okay to not be okay. Accept when things are not going great and that there's not always much you can do about it, and that it's not your fault. Let yourself grieve. Let yourself cry. Just try to get through each day.

  • You are allowed to feel what you feel, even if it's a negative feeling. You are a human being and it's only natural that you should feel sad, angry, jealous, annoyed, etc..

  • Making mistakes is alright
  • Learning self acceptance is nonnegotiable
  • Pushing forward makes you weak before it makes you strong
  • There is no time limit on healing
  • Dark humor is only good when it's appropriate

  • Desperation makes antagonists out of some people.
  • It is better to be thankful and appreciate simple things because you never know when even those will be taken away.
  • Laughter helps.

This is so true. It is better to enjoy the little things because you never know when even those will be taken away. Just watching TV, walking through the mall and looking around, going to the park and hearing the birds chirp, the traffic in the distance. I try to appreciate these little, everyday things. Life has already gotten so hard and all you can take pleasure in sometimes are these little things, and I'm thankful for them. I've had so many things ripped away and I'm just desperate to hold on to anything normal and calming. I've learned to take things for granted less. And laughter does help. So does crying, actually.

Physical violence towards another is never acceptable unless you are fighting for your life.

Your stronger than you think.

~ I learned that things don't always turn out the way you planned, or the way you think they should. And I've learned that there are things that go wrong that don't always get fixed or get put back together the way they were before. I've learned that some broken things stay broken, and I've learned that you can get through bad times and keep looking for better ones, as long as you have people who love you ~
