My life changed Monday morning when I realized that I hadn’t went to a concert the night before so why was my head exploding with the highest pitch tone I’ve ever heard? It’s now Friday and it hasn’t fell asleep yet, nor I. I’m at my end here. There’s no silence, I loved quiet time, it’s gone.

I’m at the end... this is torture.

      Loud noise?
      Hi

Do you listen to music through headphones? Have you been exposed to some loud noises? Maybe ear wax? Fluid behind ear drum?

Go to GP and check it out.

This might be (and likely is) a temporary spike. It can take over 3 months for a temporary spike to go away (you should begin to see some improvement/fading after about a month).

When was the last time you got exposed to a loud noise? Tinnitus can take a several days to react (for example lots of people get tinnitus days after the initial exposure). How many concerts have you been to since the onset of your tinnitus?

I suggest you go see a doc and do a hearing test at your earliest convenience.

Thanks for your responses. I haven’t been to concerts in 20 years. That was just my lame attempt of finding some humor buried under the mania. So I just woke up Monday and heard the ringing. I do use headphones while I work out but I never turn the volume up to max. Rarely does it get even close to half way, but maybe that enough. I went to my doctor and he looked in my ears and saw some fluid but not enough to concern him beyond treating for an infection with Amoxicillin and prednisone. Neither has done much to change anything. Not the volume or the pitch. But I have learned in this short but feels like a lifetime week that the calmer I stay the better. Which has been a challenge. I realized this morning that sitting near a river was ideal. Just the sounds I needed to drown out the sounds in my head. The only things that has worked. Unfortunately I don’t live on the river itself. I have some meds the doctors have thrown at me to calm my nerves or to help me at night to fall asleep and stay asleep. One med however angered the beast. It was sooooo loud after taking the sleeping aid. But I haven’t slept good in 4 nights so I thought what the hell let’s try this. That would Trazadone. No Bueno. I have called an ENT office to make appointment but got out of the ER late and they had left for the day, so soonest I can get in will be this week when they have a slot for me. A Cat scan was performed on me at the hospital because I also had quite the headache, probably from lack of sleep and fluids. The scan looked normal. so I look forward to knowing what caused this if there is a cause. It would be nice if it went away but researching on it there seems to be more ways to cope with this than years prior, interesting that they have not narrowed down a cure. Anyway, I would love to hear of any suggestions, tips, etc. I find it quite odd that this is not known more in the public eye. I feel that this should be studied and advertised just as much as say rosacea or acne. As I sat in the ER waiting room going insane I would have taken everything these other patients had over what’s in my head. I still would. But it’s there and maybe it will go away but now it’s time to woman up and start coping. Wether I did this to myself or however it’s come to be, I hate it. But it’s there and places like this I get to observe how others cope and live productive lives and get back to normal whatever your normal was before this.
      Thanks for listening

Go to ENT or MD now for a course of steroids. Typically your window for it having a positive effect is within 10 days of onset

      Hi @Anners Joey

There’s a saying ‘ time is a great healer’ and for new to tinnitus sufferers it’s true.

Anxiety and lack of sleep go hand in hand I’m afraid but through time it does get better whether reduces or goes away ( this does happen) or you get used to it and don’t react the same.

I’ve had tinnitus since late July/early August 19 and I hit every negative milestone there was but now I’m so much better, still have tinnitus but I now have more good than bad days and hopefully this continues, I’ve also had periods of time when I’ve had silence ;) hopefully this continues and I’ll be rid of the beast if not I’m determined to live my life as I would have before

I would advise to stick reading the success stories especially if you’re anxious

Anywhoo best of luck and go live life

      Regards

Denise, thank you for your kind words. Well I went through 3 days of the mania and all that did was land me in the ER with tubes and ER staff looking at me like I’m nuts, but there was one nurse in there that knew what I was going through. I am just not wired to be debilitated. I have a great career as a biologist, I’m active and healthy so I just can’t let the beast win. I will take every kind word and advice folks have on here and apply it my life. My life may have “changed up” a bit but it didn’t end, although a few days ago I was thinking that wouldn’t be half bad if it did :) I am still a bit in awe of the quickness of this change. Overnight. Just can’t quite come to terms with that just yet.
