Hi, I have just joined as I have the most horrendous tinnitus in left ear only.

I have had two hearing checks in the last 3 weeks and both have concluded that I have slight hearing loss, in both ears but more so in my left ear where the tinnitus is so loud.

Both audiologist and Doctor have both suggested that I may need hearing aids , but I feel I can hear OK although my wife thinks I have everything on too loud.
My worry is though as I have unilateral tinnitus I have been referred to ENT at my local hospital.

I have looked at google and found all sorts of things that are quite worrying, all I want is for the noise to quieten and release the pressure inside my ear.

Is this a similar problem to others?

@David ONeill ,
Welcome to Tinnitus Talk.
Always best be seen by ENT to check out your ears and sometimes a routine MRI.

You can try steam inhalation to clear your tubes .
Hearing aids and maskers can help you to cope better.
Try not to worry and let ENT do their job looking after you.

love glynis

Welcome to the forum. Sometimes members report that hearing aids have helped lower their tinnitus. If you can try them like we have here in Canada, then it doesn't hurt to give it a try. I did that during my initial days with my T. It didn't help in my case so I returned them at no cost.

Left ear?
Shooting rifles?

What's your background in terms of noise exposure
