Hi everyone! I'm 22 and new to forum and Tinnitus. I have developed Tinnitus about a month ago and I don't know the exact reason of it so I would like to share my story.

A month ago on 14th February all of a sudden I've started having ear ringing at night. It was a normal day and I was listening to music with earphones on as usual nothing new but this time it felt like the volume was too much and so I turnt down the volume and didn't think of it much as I thought it was because of the earache on my left ear and the thing is I've never even had earache before in my life until this winter and it would usually come if it was cold outside that day anyways so after I removed the earphones I noticed an earringing that wouldn't stop so of course I searched it online and learnt that it was Tinnitus.

Then I decided to go to ENT to get my ears checked because the ringing wouldn't stop and it gave my so much anxiety and is still giving me.. so the Doctor checked my ears and said that there wasn't any problems with my ears except the fact that I had some ear pressure balance?

problem on my left ear and that my Eustachian tube was narrowed and that was the reason for my ear ringing. I asked if it had anything to do with the earphones but he said that although the earphones might be the reason for earringing it can't be the reason for the ear pressure balance thing..

I had a hearing test which came all good and the pressure balance test which wasn't normal on my left ear but I have ringing on both sides sometimes it is only on the left and sometimes I feel like it is in my brain.. it's usually like a "ssssss" sound and but sometimes it goes stronger like a "eeeeee" sound which is annoying. I can't even sleep in my room anymore and have to sleep on the couch in the living room where there is a freezer that makes sound which masks my ringing.

So the Doctor thinks that the ringing will go away after my pressure condition is better but it's been more than a month and it is still the same..

oh and I also started using gingko b12 and zinc supplements and had a cortisone? Shot done which got inside of my left ear swollen.. but it went away after a week. So I really wonder your opinions on the reason of my ear ringing.

I hope you will give me some answers and sorry about my English as it's not my native language.

Hi @Ggg
Welcome to tinnitus talk. By the sounds of things your tinnitus was caused by listening to music at high volume levels through your headphones. I suspect this has been coming on for some time since you listen to music regularly through them. If I were you, I wouldn't listen to music through headphones again even at low volume, as there's a risk of making the tinnitus worse. Below is a link that will take you to an article on tinnitus that you might find helpful.
Hope you start to feel better soon.
All the best
Michael

Loud music/illness/ear infections are common reasons for tinnitus. hang in there and see how it plays out..

Welcome to Tinnitus Talk @Ggg.
Loud music with earphones or headphones can cause tinnitus and eustation tube problems can cause pressure and tinnitus also.
In some cases a ballon procedure can be done to open up the tubes but usually get sorted with a nose spray.
Not quite sure how bad your balance is but there are medications to help that...lots of love glynis
