@aura, I am 100% with you!

I say we get take the Căile Ferate Române from gara de nord at 7:20pm, so we can arrive at Chișinău for 8:24am, then take the Sarmizegetusa towards Uzina Mecanică Experimentală where we can visit Universitatea Pedagogică de Stat „Ion Creangă (within a one minutes walk) and ask to speak to their top medical students about "science", tinnitus and any Alien Insects they may have dissected recently.

We go to see the Valea Morilor; Stefan cel Mare Park; Muzeum Sztuk Pięknych im. A.S. Puszkina and then swallow without spitting at Milestii Mici where we make disgraces of ourselves and get barred for life.

We spend the night at the Nobil Luxury Boutique Hotel on Mihai Eminescu Street, and awake with hangovers in the afternoon (easy for you, being a vampire) to take the 5:20pm train out of Chișinău.

Do some of this on the way home:



Then arrive at Gara de Nord for 6:17am, and call it a day.

I'd be inclined to upload a song from my favourite album by Finch, Say Hello to Sunshine, but it was their least popular, and whenever I tell people who haven't heard the band prior, to give it a listen, they come away looking traumatised or something. It seems you have to ease in gently if you're going to appreciate it.

 

Never heard of these 2. Not sure what to make of Finch but I’ll listen to some more - might be a slow burner. I like most genres, but always preferred to listen to 90’s rock music, not heard much from the 00’s

Without You I’m Nothing was the first and only album I ever owned by Placebo.

My favourite songs off the album were:

But the thing is, I was just never "that big into them".

Funny thing was, the first girl I dated after I developed tinnitus in 2009 was a French anglophile who absolutely loved them; they were her favourite band (in the whole wide world).

Anyway, I could never tell if she was dating me for me, or just for the fact that I was an English boy from London (like her favourite band).

In any case, she frequently liked reciting the lyrics from this song of theirs:

Bought a record that has been high on my wantlist for many years.

Samhain- Mother Of Mercy

For those not familiar with Samhain it was the band of Glenn Danzig between Misfits and Danzig.

The day I will be able to enjoy this and the big pile of other unplayed records will be GLORIOUS.

 

I love Danzig. In my opinion his solo work is the best. But this song is killer by the way.

 

Clutch - The Mob Goes Wild

 

First time I heard it was during the opening of Cruel Intentions, a film I liked so much I bought it on VHS when I was only (around) 13 years old.

Just threw it in my Mum's trolley when we were out shopping; never told her what it was about.

Of course it was just a cheap adaptation of Dangerous Liaisons, but I preferred it because:

a) I had a crush on Sarah Michelle Gellar at the time (because Buffy).

and

b) other things... I'll stop there.

So yes, she was also that (an audiophile) and so we, as you said, equated to a match made in hell.

The thing is, when I first developed tinnitus, my way of dealing with it was to behave like I hadn't; which means I now live with something far worse than I may have done had I not been subjected to such fairy-tale advice as: "don't wear earplugs; they'll only make things worse", and "you can't let tinnitus change the way you live your life", prior to this forum's creation.

This is to say, I tried to withstand situations I shouldn't have, so I could spend time with her.

Eventually I ended it because of requests to do things which I knew would probably kill me, such as attending concerts, and I wasn't really in a good enough headspace to cope with being dumped.

No, you're right. She had moved to London; so was dating me for me, I'm sure. But looking back, I realise I should have given myself a lot longer to come to terms with my new way of life before I attempted a relationship.

She had good taste in music though, and Placebo always reminds me of her now.

So I don't know the music of the Misfits or Samhain (although I really like the album cover art).

But @Vassili, I have to say I'm quite impressed by you mate.

You (like me) demonstrate an eclectic taste in music, despite (and I don't mean this in any offensive way) having the appearance of a complete metalhead (as referenced in Photo Album of Tinnitus Talk members).

 

@AbeS, nice! I have the original November-Coming Fire, as well as most of the original Misfits stuff

Worth mentioning for people who don’t know; Glenn Danzig wrote hits for Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison, and was apparently also huge influence on bands like Metallica.

My favourite Danzig song happens to be a Samhain song, although I much prefer Misfits. This is probably in my top 5 of favourite songs of all time tbh.

@Damocles, if you like Punk Rock you can give the Misfits a chance. Samhain, it seems to me, is a bit different animal. Not quite Punk Rock.

Well, I sang, wrote lyrics and sometimes played guitar and base in a Metal band for nearly a decade. And before this last band there were other bans so I was involved in a local music scene starting from the age 15/16 or something. But the thing is that my musical taste is formed by my friends who listened to different music and played in different bands plus I love digging and finding interesting stuff myself.

Metal was a big thing for me when I was younger. Now I became older and I just don't have that aggression in me anymore. Anyway, I always listened to lots of genres because I love music, not a specific genre. I am not an elitist.

Maan, I miss singing, rehearsing, touring, playing bars/festivals, working in a studio. It all came to an end. It was a tough decision but I've quit music. But you know, everything happens for a reason. When one door closes, another opens. I just have to move towards other horizons of my life and everything will be fine. I feel nostalgic at times but I think it's normal. Anyway, past is gone and it's gone forever. Even if I'll recover some day, I won't go back. I won't risk it, naah.

Wow! All the early singles as well? Those are a fortune nowadays! At least you have the funding if an expensive treatment arrives.

I just got a late 80s repress, it will have to do considering the prices.

Archangel is fantastic!

Also Cough/Cool is a really cool and odd song of the Misfits. The quality Danzig showed in both singing and songwriting that early is impressive.
