So, Is Everyone from My Generation Going to Get Tinnitus Eventually?

Folks born in 99-afterwards.

Only asking because everyone I know (or see rather, I don't really 'know' people my age lol) use some type of headphone/earbud/iem/whatever you call it. Plenty of them exceed that volume warning. And others don't, I know I never did but hell! Look at me. Suffering from ringing in my left ear, but still.

I think I'll start telling them to turn it down from now on. If I ever get the chance to, don't want to be a nag.

 

Yeah I tell people around my circle all the time to stop it, they don't listen though and don't really care...still do what they want. =]

 

We live in a world that is very LOUD. Much louder than the previous generations. These loud sounds, can possibly take a toll on the mind/ears.

 

Early awareness will prevent young generation falls into T.
I wish that I could beware of the acoustic impact to my ears in young age
if someone told me.

 

The key thing to remember is that just telling someone to turn it down is not going to work. Explaining about Tinnitus and tying to get them to understand it and what it does to your life is the key to making a difference.

 

Yup, that's one strong friction point that affects awareness. Even if we succeed in making folks aware, making them care is another challenge of its own.

Human nature is such that we aren't well prepared for thinking strategically. Smoking, drinking, and possibly one biggest factor of all: diet. All of this seems ok on a day to day basis, but in the long run...

 

yes, and then their lives will be ruined by T (Like mine).

 

Most likely, if I managed to get it at 15 then I dread to think what my generation will be like by the time their 40.

Although chances are, when everybody is suffering for it, the pharma companies will see dollar signs and sort it out.

 

my guess is less than 50%, because lots of people go very deaf without much tinnitus
