@JohnAdams hi! totally agree, but there is one more important thing, you are better than some months ago, you have had progress with this therapy, and this is the most important, you took action and you are seeing good improvements, for me this is a success for such a condition!

Yes, there is a delay of about approximately 10s to 100s of milliseconds before it comes back.

None of us deserve tinnitus. We all deserve the people working on this to expedite their work.

I just plugged both of my ears and my tinnitus was barely noticeable.

What we need is for the tinnitus organizations like the BTA to honestly investigate this and not just cross their arms and say "hurumph! there's no proof!".

I still can't believe you had the balls to do this. How long are you supposed to see improved results?

So this thread is where everybody went ;)

Congratulations, John!!! I'm very excited for you. Will this preclude you from the Frequency Therapeutics treatment it ever comes on the market?

So happy for you John Adams, I can't imagine what the reduction of tinnitus must feel like, awesome and perhaps a little scary? I don't know, just super happy for you and the family. Well done sir, hope it keeps getting better, you're an inspiration here and a voice of sanity and reason. Stay cool, and go easy on the heavy metal please...

      @JohnAdams

Does spicy, salty, or fast food spike your tinnitus? I meant before and/or after your perfusions with Dr. Shim. I suppose your perfusions could show further benefit down the road.

Does loud noise still spike your tinnitus?

      I have a question :)
I have mild hearing loss that I found out about in 2006, but tinnitus I got only in 03/2018.

So, which date is more important here? Would I be in the window for that procedure?

Old injuries aren't really that much of a problem, but the fresher the better. What does matter most, unfortunately, is age. The older you are after a certain age, the less effective it can be as time goes by.

You would need to ask Dr. Shim as well as do your own research. I'd think the latter date. But I have absolutely no idea.

I would consider going if @JohnAdams has a long term benefit from his tinnitus. It's too early to evaluate IMO. I have a more tolerable hiss today. I'm still wondering about Otonomy's gel IT injection for tinnitus. I had bought OTIC stock for a short while. Glad I got out for a small profit.

At some point, I’ll see if I can get hold of one of my more recent audiograms as they are on file but I don’t have a hard copy.

In answer to your question, I have no idea. I took loads of vitamins (especially B vitamins), NAC, magnesium, zinc, etc, etc, but I doubt this was a contributing factor.

My best guess is that it was a combination of an audiogram’s inability to be precise and maybe a natural rebound in my hearing threshold. It is reported that 1 in 3 people with SSHL get their hearing back without any treatment, so maybe something similar happened to me.

Congrats @Ed209. Was your hearing loss noise-induced? Also, how long was it between the poor test results and your recovery? Thanks.

@Flamingo1, have you been to Silverstein in Sarasota for your tinnitus? I wonder if their wick with dexamethasone would help the noise?

I never had what would be considered hearing loss. My lowest dips were at 25 dB which is a borderline mild loss, but those frequencies are now back to 0 dB. I can only go by the dates on the audiograms which show an 8-month interval, but this doesn’t really give a clue as to how long it took for my hearing to get to that stage or how reliable the audiograms are with an accuracy of +- 10 dB. My latest audiograms - I’ve had two since - were both better than the audiogram I posted dated March 2016. My hearing on my latest tests was perfect (from memory all frequencies were on or nearly at 0 dB and some were above 0 meaning super acute hearing), however, with that said, my tinnitus is exactly the same and still fluctuates.

I have no explanation for any of this, at all. It does seem that my hearing recovered somewhat, though, because my improvements generally go beyond the margin of error of +- 10 dB.

Yeah sometimes it seems like this sushi I was getting from a local grocery store was spiking my tinnitus.
I haven't been around any sounds loud enough to spike my tinnitus so I don't know.

He told me that the treatment works better during early onset and the younger you are the better. You might want to talk to him yourself about your specific situation.

Yes, that's the clinic. The arrow is pointing at the door. It is the entire second floor of that building.
      upload_2019-3-25_9-6-8.png

It's also called Solsaem ENT now, not Cheong-Min.

I never took a taxi. I just rode the train and walked everywhere. There is something called the Naver app that gets you around pretty well. I stayed in an AirBnB called CozyHouse .7 miles north of the clinic. The train system is fairly simple to navigate. There is a convenience store about 100 feet from CozyHouse to get basic commodities and also a little further away like a 5 minute walk is something called LotteMart which is like a Wal-Mart or Target,

If you're going to go I'd try and learn a few simple Korean phrases.
