Just typing this as I'm at the gym, if you are having a bad day with tinnitus, seriously, sign up for the gym.

You get so many benefits :

1. Fitness
2.Get out of the house
3. Gets you looking good
4. But most importantly, machines like the treadmill can definitely help drown out the T in your head :D

My positive thought of the day

I like the gym too. I was a power lifter prior to T, I've had to take it way back. Be careful to breath properly, don't strain too much, I know that's the point but you can make your T worse if you lift really heavy. You can actually induce hearing loss if you put too much pressure to the ears while straining.

Power lifting , that's something that must take a lot if effort , how often did you go to the gym to keep that up ? I'd imagine that takes a lot of commitment

I love going to the gym. It seems to always spike my T but I don't care and it is usually just temporary. I am sure it is related to elevated blood pressure from the weight lifting. Either way, the benefit outweighs the negatives.

I go to the gym almost everyday and for one hour I dont hear my T and makes me feel great. But as Eric states that you may get a spike but it passes in an hour or so. I was able to get off ambien and sleep naturally from working out and relaxation techniques.

Where did you learn about something like that Telis?
Hey, the whole thing was a lot of commitment, a lifestyle change, half of it was eating correctly and taking care outside the gym.

Perilymph fistula, the round and oval window can tear as you create pressure lifting or straining. This is kind of how my ear problems began. I was using force with my nose plugged (after workouts) but you can create tears without having to plug the nose (just lifting). If you are lifting HEAVY (like maxing out) you have to be really careful to breath properly. If you already have problems like I do, it makes it easy to re injure. I no longer lift unfortunately, I do things like biking , hill running etc. Even these things still bother me as I don't think that I've healed.

By nose plugged, are you referring to popping your Eustachian tube too much?

Does wearing earplugs increase this pressure? e.g is squatting with ear plugs dangerous?

Some gyms can be quite loud. Just about every gym where I live they play music and there's tons of people dropping weights everywhere.
