Well, I have had a jaw problem with crunching and cracking for 34 years. During my teens, I had to wear a mouth plate all the time.

In my 40s, I was sent to another maxillofacial specialist, and a new mouth guard was made. Today, they are referring me again because it is far too bad now and needs something done.

He said they might consider BOTOX in my jaw or possibly surgery, so I just have to wait and see what they say in a few weeks when I get seen again.

Has anyone else had jaw treatment?

Lots of love,
glynis

Glynis, I had a splint that I wore 24 hours a day for a few months, but it seemed to make my tinnitus and my jaw worse. I haven't worn it for about 2 weeks, and my jaw's still as crunchy as it's been for years.

Do you have any pain? I used to have no jaw pain at all, but I did get some while wearing the splint. Now it's not too bad, but the crunching's been there for years as well.

Please keep me informed about what you're going to do. I paid $3,000 for the splint made by an NM dentist, and I feel it was a waste of money, just like everything else I've tried to ease my tinnitus.

I truly hope you have better luck in finding something that eases your symptoms more than I did.

Hi Jeannie,

I get jaw and face aches along with the crunching, so I'm hoping he can make me a new mouth guard like my old 24-hour one, since my night guard is a bit too bulky for daytime use. I'm going to try to keep it in for a while and see if it helps.

Lots of love,

I put my splint in tonight. I haven't used it in a while because it didn't seem to help, and my tinnitus went through the roof. I took it back out. It almost felt like the splint I had in for around 2 hours was pressing on a nerve, and my ears were sizzling with a high pitch.

Well, I've got some wonderful news. I had to have 2 side or back teeth removed and had 2 teeth put on a plate. The amazing thing is that my jaw has stopped cracking and crunching now that the plate is in.

So, there's no need for an operation or for me to wear my mouth guard anymore. I'm smiling for England!

Lots of love,
glynis
