I thought I couldn't modulate at first. And then when I started using a splint that separated my back teeth a few millimeters it became very apparent.

Also it's probably too early, but if this works, is this new device supposed to lower or totally eliminate one's tinnitus?

In initial tests, bi-modal stimulation (from the Dr Shore team) shows a reduction of T. Because the studies have a limited time span, it is unknown whether or not the trend would continue (ie more volume reduction) with continuous use. There is no known reason to believe it wouldn't, but there is no study to give us any data about it.

I could modulate with my neck position, not as much now, why is that? Would this still help me?? Does this trial help all people with tinnitus?

HE mentioned somewhere in the thread it works for both people with and without somatic tinnitus, although better for us somatic sufferers.

      Lol.

Hi! Sorry for the delay I went camping immediately afterwords and we didn’t have reception.

The unfortunate news is while I received both stimulations, I didn’t receive the most effective (hypothesized) timing. Apparently the next four sessions they will use different offsets by 5 milliseconds. And my fifth session (of treatments) will be the eeg optimized treatments.

After my trial things seemed the same so I didn’t feel like posting.

However, on my drive to the campsite the sound started to be lighter, not quieter, but lighter. I went to bed without masking for the first time in 6 months (I just didn’t think about it). The effects seem to very similar on T to that of taking a benzo.

I’m still enjoying a lighter and quieter T at the moment.

My next session will feature much more of an offset in timing.

Not to rain on your parade. There is a possibility that it is placebo affect, how you are perceiving your T now, no?

Haha. I’m very aware of the placebo effect. I use minimum masking level to determine the loudness of my T. It’s still down between 5 and 7 dB.

Normally it takes between 75 and 85 dB to match.

Wow now that's great news. That's above placebo in the Shore trials (albeit not clinically significant, but walk before we can run).

Yes. It probably means that my unique timing offset is closer to 0 than others.

No one is yet to the session where they will have the customized eeg. I try not to ask too much because I don’t want to bias my own results. And I really want to be in the next trial where we get to take the device home! Because I’m still enjoying a suppressed T.

On a side note, during treatment I set three high scores on games on my phone!

If you don't mind my asking, what do you mean by "lighter" and not quieter?

Yeah it does. Linearb actually said something similar to that about his tinnitus after the susan shore device.

That's a good sign for sure.

I have a hypothesis on why your tinnitus felt lighter but not quieter.

Go on youtube, and find a white or pink noise video. Turn the volume to 50% or 60% on your computer. Then reduce it by 5%. It won't nescessarly sound quieter, but it will sound softer. Is this the effect you're talking about?
