I took trazadone for about 6 months when I first got tinnitus. It started to wear off/not work as well so I transitioned to over the counter sleep aids. I used sound pillow for awhile, but for almost a year now I only use a box fan or white noise machine, no pills. Tinnitus has not improved since onset.

What was the cause of your tinnitus? If headphone usage and you're new, don't wear headphones, invest in some over the ear muffs and ear plugs.

Allow your ears the chance to adjust. Stress can heighten it, try some mag, some nac, wear ear plugs or muffs whenever your ears clench or seize over too loud noises. Protection will be your best friend since your ears have been harmed by acoustics. Be mindful of some every day sounds like clapping, yelling, vacuums etc.

If there is a chance that you have an ear infection, see a doctor about it. Bring the list of ototoxic medications with you and ensure that what they prescribe to you isn't on that list. You might also want to paste the name of the medication into the search box on this forum, to ensure there aren't many horror story involving that drug.

did your infections all clear up? hope things get better for you. maybe you could try amitriptyline or nortriptyline for sleep. It's an AD but is commonly prescribed in low doses to just function as a sleep aid.

You might want to play the sound of crickets. They work well for a high pitch tone.

You might also consider taking Amitriptyline.
