Hey do you have reactive Tinnitus? Curious if Keppra helped with that.

Are you still on Keppra? If so does it help?

Hey SadMan, I saw you were also dealing with a dysacusis phenomenon. I just wanted to ask if yours improved or even disappeared? Thanks in advance!

I am sorry to hear that. Sadly, no one tells you about tinnitus until you develop it and start your own research. Otherwise, many people would be more careful with noises and stress... Do you also suffer from hearing loss? Unfortunately, I noticed that my hearing starts to get worse starting at 9 kHz and I really can't hear frequencies above 14/15 kHz. Only my right ear is able to hear frequencies up to almost 18 kHz

My right ear can hear up to 10,000 Hz. My left ear can hear up to 12,000 Hz. I am 39 years old. I have a hearing of 30 decibels at 8000 hz.

Sounds like our tinnitus stories and symptoms are very similar. Fortunately, at 8 kHz my hearing is normal which is why no one noticed my hearing loss with audiograms. Do you also suffer from muffled hearing?

Let's keep in touch and hope that both of us can recover from that misery! We haven't even lived half of a life and should not life with it until the end...

It has helped me fall asleep despite T and didn't make me feel drowsy the next day. It isn't addictive. It has been used to Treat T. However, there is a small chance that it causes T. There are published studies about its use as treatment and about it causing T, but I haven't read too many horror stories about it on this forum.

It's not supposed to be. If you go to a doctor here with T, you'll probably end up taking Nootropil in either IV or tablet form. Other than being ineffective, it's generally well tolerated. My high freq T started a week in on piracetam and betahistin though (I took them for my recurring unilateral low freq tone). Probably a coincidence.

The hissing spontaneously turned into ringing. It wasn't about Piracetam. Today I re-started using Piracetam 2 * 1200 mg and cinnarizine 2 * 25 mg.

It feels like the colored sounds do work for me to some extent, but it's not exactly the most pleasant thing to listen to either. I echo the above in the sense that less artificial sounds like fans or crickets are great. Rain is great for me.

:( I have been using betahistine for 2 months. I'm thinking of cutting. So far, I have not seen any benefit other than increasing tinnitus. I guess it doesn't work in acoustic trauma. What do you think about this? Thank you, 6 months will be very difficult, unfortunately. I hope other months won't be like that either.

It does get better. The mind plays a huge role in tinnitus, for some more than others. For me, I had to train my mind to remain in a calm state, whilst intentionally listening to my T. It is a very difficult skill to learn, but once you master it, habituation becomes much easier, and the volume/intensity of the T will likely decrease.
