  • To me, it's not the sound that's worst. It's the physical sensation. Aching ears, burning, headache, fullness, the feeling something is broken.
Why does it feel like my head is between a bench vise? What a terrible feeling. I never really wanted to come back here. I was doing well. One stupid mistake when I just wanted to feel normal again. It's been 2 months already.

I couldn't agree more. Same for me back in December.... and every time I feel like I am turning a corner BOOOM back again.

    trigeminal nerve irritation?
Had movie night at my friends place and my ears are slightly worse again. The movie wasn't even loud! My ears haven't been this bad in many, many ( y )ears. Frustrating. But what am I gonna do?
A great success! Felt almost like my old self yesterday. This has been very difficult month and a half, so I did celebrate a little! I deserved it! Still, not yet completely as I used to be.

I am very happy for you! Gives me hope for my own future. I can not accept i will have this for life...
    S
@DamagedJoe Thanks! Just give it time. :)

I don't still feel like before the evening in the club, but it's been almost 2 months now. So these thing take LOTS of time. Never going to a club again. Or any loud places.
One evening in loud place with earplugs, and now it's been 1,5 months of hell. I was basically cured already. What a stupid thing to do.

Despite knowing better, we do make poor decisions. It's our human condition to be among others and connect – to feel alive. It's in our nature, and it always wins.
Few days ago my ears felt like they can handle anything. Today, even rustle of paper feels uncomfortable. What a ridiculous condition this is. Totally ridiculous.

it is totally non-sensical. Sometimes just the water in the shower is too loud for me and painful- other days it is totally relaxing.
    S
@cjbhab Exactly. Sometimes I go to shower and when I leave, I am like "wow, so relaxing, it's almost silent". Then other days "OMG why did I go to take a shower, I made it worse again!" Annoying. It would be very nice to know the reason why it behaves like that.
Have a relaxing weekend everyone. This is a tough condition to endure, but together we can survive it. Remember, you are not alone.
Over a month and my head still feels like I've been in a boxing match and I have slight nausea whenever I talk. How on earth can being few hours in bar/club with earplugs cause this much harm??!
Hi. How did you get your reactivity and pain to fans and digital audio to go away? Did you just wait it out? Did you use any meds? Did you stay in quiet?
    S
It took me 5 years for it to go away. I stopped using headphones, avoided loud places, but otherwise lived normally.
I have hard time forgiving myself for what I did. I was basically cured. Then I do something so stupid, and go to a club. I had earplugs on but damage is done. I've not had this kind of feeling since year 1 when I got this condition.

Feeling the same way. I was doing well, until one thing in December for my daughter that I thought was fine. Worse than ever. Trying to forgive myself has been hard. I keep hope that things will calm down eventually.

@angel223 I didn't notice my T anymore. I really had to concentrate to heat it, I was doing that well. But it took 6 years. I was doing really well.

You have learned and taught others do not attend loud events even with ear protection! You habituated before now do it again. I'm in a spike lets ride it out together.
Paracetamol seems to make my T lower in volume, and caffeine makes it louder. My guess is that there is something physical going on inside my ear.
4 hours of fun - 4 weeks of ear ache, increased T, feeling of fullness, tiredness, nausea, increased H, depression, poor sleep etc. And this happened while wearing earplugs. Stay out of nightclubs people. Not worth it.

Just 2 years ago I still had sensitivity for fan noises and I couldnt hear lyrics on one song. Just little over year ago I noticed that I can hear the lyrics again and I toleratw fan noises etc. It's been a slow process.
    DamagedJoe
And how was your T before your Spike?
    S
Basically gone. I really had to try to hear it, even in silence. I was doing very well. Honestly I didn't usually even remember I had this condition anymore. Still had to be careful with headphones, wind noise etc.
Caffeine again affects my T. This hasn't happened in few years now. Darnit. Let me enjoy my morning coffee!!!

Back once again. I write this to myself as a reminder as well: NEVER GO INTO ANY LOUD PLACES, EVEN WITH EARPLUGS! I've been doing so well for past 2 years. My T&H were basically gone, I found new joy in life. But, because I just wanted to be with my friends just for ONCE before we graduate, it's all gone in few alcohol induced hours. A terrible spike going on. I even had my earplugs on all the time.
I've not been here for a while. Still alive and kicking! I can live almost normal life but still can't make music or listen for long time.
Now my GF dumped me out of blue. I am literally giving up on life.

Don't give up my friend! John 3:16- God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whoever would believe in him would not perish, but have Everlasting life!

If it wasn't meant to be, it's best she's gone. You're going to find someone even better. Just watch
Not handling this well anymore. I miss making music so much. I tried and my ears start having pain afterwards...
    H
Just as an example, the Amphions worked for several hours a day, and they are KNOWN for causing problems with T. But some old consumer speakers I have gives ear fullnes and pain after 3-5 minutes. The difference can be night and day
    H
Then again, if fan noise is a problem I think you must be more sensitive than me
    Ruse
Just make the ideas quietly on laptop speakers and then come back for the sound design and mixing at a later date :)
Can't use computer because of fan noise. What am I supposed to do? My ears go crazy when I use computers.

I have this now. My ringing really ramps up. How you doing these days?
Can't sleep. T had been loud ever since I went to nightclub. I was already feeling almost normal and my T was very silent....
    R
You're experiencing a spike. You'll get back there. Be calm. Continue to protect.
    S
Well.. This has lasted almost a week now.
    R
You'll get there. I believe it.
There are spikes that last weeks. Yourr current stress level and lack of sleep is making things worse. Hang in there. Eat full meals, focus deeply on something like a project, and take something to sleep if need be.
40 minutes @ nightclub few days ago was not worth it. T level is still bit higher than normally... Gotta be wiser in the future.
Not the best idea to go to nightclub. I only was there for 40 mins to say goodbye to my new school "friends". Newcomers party.Never again.
    S
Nightclubs are hell holes. They've always been. Music is way too loud in those places.
