Gabapentin certainly didn't cause your tinnitus, as you already had it. It does not cause inner ear damage, which only a few drugs are known to do. Your tinnitus likely just got worse over time, like many people's do.

It could be, but I'd recommend to go down a serious diagnosis path because it could be many things. Here is a flow chart you can follow with your doc.

I have high blood pressure and terrible allergies so I use Sudafed only ocassionally since it’s not good for people with high BP to take. My tinnitus has never changed with Sudafed, only made it louder actually, but temporarily while I’m taking it.

That's interesting, as that sounds different from tinnitus. Does anything trigger it, like talking, exercising, sneezing, etc.? I meant some combination of allergies and/or allergy meds being the cause. Did the antihistamines change the condition at all?

Your symptoms could be caused by many different reasons. Possibly a cold, allergies, inner ear issues. Only a doctor that checks out the ear could possibly help out.

...caused from noise is only 50%, when we have so many firecrackers and fireworks in the streets. Tinnitus related to Eustachian Tube Dysfunction is very high, allergies, neck and jaw is fairly high, second COVID-19 booster suspicion, elderly medication use is high and Lyme disease has dropped.

...There's already an overwhelming surfeit of data to sift through and that's part of the problem and what causes people to panic. I've checked and have discounted sinus problems, allergies & TMJ already – they are not probable causes for the intense crunching in the ear every time I swallow.

I had intramuscular injections. I had first course after a spike due to MRI, I think it helped a bit. Other two were combination of spikes due to noise exposure and allergies, mostly allergies. Thankfully I feel better now.

Probably your allergies. Take some antihistamine for a few days and that should clear most of it up.

Hi everyone, allergy shots are the best way to treat allergies. There are no side effects, and they are very effective. Going this route is somewhat inconvenient but well worth it.

I would say if you're doing something and it is decreasing your tinnitus then there's a very good chance those two things are related. Allergies can surely be a culprit of T. Keep up with the Flonase if it's working for you and maybe see an ENT or allergist. Summer can be a bad time for people...
