Can Someone Explain Why My Tinnitus Increases Even When Wearing Foam Earplugs?

Well my t can spike from sounds at lot less than 80 db. I just recently used a frequency generator to find my t frequency and my t spiked up quite loud for a few days even tho it was very low. So maybe certain sound will spike your t even when wearing ear protection

    Reactive Tinnitus or Something Else?

My low frequency t reacts to static sounds around the same frequency as my t - fans, traffic, generators, fridge etc. That reaction goes down as soon as the stimulus is removed however. Reactive tinnitus is defined as t that reacts, but stays reactive for hours after the outside stimulus is removed.

    The Hum from Hell

@DaveO High-pitched tinnitus is "easy" to diagnose because it's almost invariably tied, to some extent, to high frequency hearing loss -- which typically occurs before low-frequency loss. However, low-frequency "humming" T can certainly be a symptom of low frequency loss (I think this is what...

    Naltrexone as a Tinnitus Treatment

I wonder why some people have the pain feeling and for others, it’s just a sound. What is causing that pain? Is it the frequency? Maybe when the tinnitus is a specific frequency, the brain interprets it as a feeling, too, and it’s painful because encountering that sound in real life would be...

Which Tinnitus Frequency Do You Think Is the Easiest to Deal with?

Is Your Tinnitus High or Low-Frequency? What Was the Cause?

I don't want to get into a debate which is worse. This is subjective. The neurostimulator therapy I am doing at the moment pushes the tinnitus down in frequency (approximately from 9.5kHz to 4-5 kHz). For me personally, I find this less intrusive/tiring. The 9.5 kHz frequency feels more "sharp"...

What Does a Notch in Hearing at 4 kHz Indicate?

Yes and No. Frequency in Hz is used to tell the amount of occurrences per second. If our heart beats 60 times per minute, or once per second, then it beats with a frequency of 1Hz. The frequency of the sound that is typically associated with heartbeat isn´t 1Hz, it´s probably somewhere around 100Hz.

Yes, too much of anything is a bad thing. High pitch T cuts through everything and is painful. On the other hand, low frequency sounds are always present atleast if there's some traffic or home appliances nearby, so it's still it's like listening your T through a broken speaker all the time.

How Can You Habituate to HIGH FREQUENCY Tinnitus?

It may depend on the exact faucet :) For my faucet, if I measure the sound with a spectrum analyzer, there is substantial volume all the way up to 20 kHz, which is essentially the highest audible frequency for any human. I don't think it's possible for T to be even higher than this (though I...
