Friends,
I got tinnitus from a combination of Clonazepam and Amitriptyline. First, when I stopped Clonazepam, I got tinnitus that was somewhat bearable. Then, when I stopped Amitriptyline, it got three weeks after the last dose so so much worse. It's been now 6 months and the tinnitus is still...
Interesting how Ativan has such an instant response after almost 18 months of use clonazepam is doing very little for me now, I can also relate to the memory loss, I word search all the time.
Hi Mary,
You are unlikely to become addicted to Clonazepam if you are properly managed by your GP/PCP on how much you take. My ENT consultant prescribed me Clonazepam in 2010. I was advised to take it only when the tinnitus was severe. I would take 2X 0.5 mg tablets, once or twice a month for...
...all the outdoor noise does not drown out the head noise. I watch TV, but the enjoyment is no longer there. I will talk to my doctor about Clonazepam and consider trying it again. You mentioned taking Clonazepam when it is bad—my tinnitus is always there, so it always feels bad.
I have...
Gabapentin works well for me, especially at bedtime (100 mg), and it often helps reduce the tinnitus by morning. However, when things are tough, Clonazepam helps take the edge off, allowing me to recuperate for a while.
Hello everyone! I just want to make sure I understand (English is not my first language). Does Clonazepam help by calming you down, or does it actually reduce the volume of your tinnitus?
Hi all,
I am considering to discuss taking Clonazepam with my doctor, as a last resort. I want to try other things first, but since I am noticing a considerable reduction with Zolpidem, I think there is a good chance that same could happen with Clonazepam. It seems to work for quite many, but...
Doctors are correct to be cautious with Clonazepam; the problem is, no one fully understands tinnitus or is eager to treat it. I found myself in a critical situation with my career in a different city when I experienced a severe spike in symptoms and went days without sleep. Fortunately, I knew...
Hi my name is Christi. I had tinnitus for about four years now.
I was put on clonazepam to help calm down the ringing in both of my ears.
I had to change GP doctors since my other one is no longer in practice. He will not write a prescription for my clonazepam for the tinnitus in both ears...
Are you taking them? I have thalamus-related issues, including visual snow and debilitating tinnitus, which make me feel suicidal—truly, deeply suicidal. I sleep all day and do nothing.
I am planning to use Clonazepam for the rest of my life if necessary. At this point, I don’t care.
...therapy for tinnitus control: preliminary report
That, based on brain imaging, argued that for some types of tinnitus the combination of Clonazepam and Gabapentin works. I have read that some forum members are on this combo, for example @linearb, @Carlos1 and a few others. I have also read...
@Nick47 your description of your last 3 years is a carbon copy of my last 18 months, it’s soul destroying. @ErikaS keep us posted on clonazepam progress, have you considered combining with low dose Gabapentin?
Hi. I've had tinnitus for 11 months. It was extremely bad at the beginning and I was put on Clonazepam and Lexapro. I got off those after 4 months.
I relapsed and got back on the Clonazepam for two months but only .25 mg in the AM.
Two weeks ago I got off and now I can't sleep. My Dr...
...me from time to time. It is maddening, but it has occurred so often that now I just fume for a while and then take a significant dose of Clonazepam to suppress the spike.
Usually, several days of a higher Clonazepam dose helps to bring the spike down. You could even get a prescription for...
Unfortunately, I don't live in a country where I can get to those services without a referral, so I'm left with my family doctor. However, she is more open to things lately but still is cautious, which I can appreciate.
I'm hoping the NAC hasn't caused damage, as I've read other people...
Past my 1 year tinnitus birthday with no big changes to it. I’m still on Zolpidem and clonazepam but working with my doctor to get off them. Hope I can still sleep cold Turkey
Normally, a TCA like Amitriptyline or Nortriptyline is paired with Flupentixol or Aripiprazole, Clonazepam or Gabapentin, and Magnesium or Vitamin B2. These are medical cocktails from Hamid Djalilian and Dirk De Ridder.
I've seen others on here take e.g., Deanxit and Clonazepam & Carbamazepine...
Thank you for the PDF.
The results of this study are interesting because they compare something generally considered ineffective in most cases (pharmacological treatments) with another approach that relies on building suggestibility (TRT). The effectiveness of TRT is measured using a metric...
@Michael Leigh, I have found Clonazepam to be vital. However, it sometimes takes up to 24 hours to reduce the intensity, and I find the effect lasts for about another 24 hours. The effect seems even more pronounced when I combine it with Deanxit.
This is the best post I’ve read in a while. Until something better comes along, this is your best approach for addressing your tinnitus if it is severe.
...the dosage carefully. You really have to do the same with any benzo. If you reach a point where you have to take enormous amounts of Clonazepam, you may need to taper. On the other hand, I've seen epileptics with myoclonia get up to 20 mg of Clonazepam, which is an enormous dose, but it works...
I will be switching to Clonazepam this coming Thursday. My psychiatrist suggested starting with a 0.5 mg dose at night in case it makes me noticeably sleepy. If it doesn’t, he said I could take it either in the morning or evening, depending on which time benefits me the most. He actually wrote...
...doses, you could fall without being able to protect yourself. I normally take 150 mg twice—once at night and again if I wake up around 2 or 3 AM.
Right now, I’m taking 450 mg of Pregabalin, 2 mg of Clonazepam, 125 mg of Seroquel, and 30 mg of Mirtazapine. All that does is put me to...
...if the tinnitus was made worse, but during my withdrawal I was working on CBT and other strategies to reduce my reaction to it.
My only Clonazepam prescription was given to me in August 2017. It was for 1 mg, twice a day, with a total of 42 pills (three weeks’ worth). However, I never took...
Xanax shouldn't be taken along with the large doze of Clonazepam he took, which is also a benzo, with a much longer half life than Xanax.
Mind over matter might work for stable mild to moderate tinnitus.
There is no real pattern. I take 2-3 mg Diazepam several days a week, and low dose Gabapentin (300-600 mg) every day. I use Clonazepam twice a week to once a week, however usually with Gabapentin and Deanxit.
1 mg Clonazepam is pretty potent in itself, even more so alongside Ambien. It should work in the short term, but taking those benzos regularly always is a concern. I have Lorazepam 0.5 mg prescription for anxiety and don't take every day. It's about half potency of Clonazepam per mg.
...combines CBT, sound therapy, nutraceuticals, and medications.
Additionally, there’s the Shulman Protocol, which involves Gabapentin and Clonazepam, or Dirk De Ridder’s protocol, which includes Deanxit, Aripiprazole, Clonazepam, and sometimes LDN or Cyclobenzaprine. Some people find relief...
Agreed. I occasionally take 0.5 mg of Lorazepam, which has an equivalent potency to 0.25 mg of Clonazepam, and also a shorter half-life. I try to limit my usage to once per week because benzodiazepines can lead to very rapid tolerance. A dose of 0.75 mg of Clonazepam would be equivalent in...
...my tinnitus was extremely loud and constantly changing. I thought it was going to be permanent, but after three months, and after starting Clonazepam, it finally went down.
My spike lasted from July to October 24. Now, eight months later, my tinnitus has settled at a baseline that actually...
...I am also going to talk with my GP next week about going back on the Shulman Protocol, which includes Gabapentin and a very low dosage of Clonazepam. I used to take 0.5 mg three times a day, and it kept my tinnitus at a tolerable level all the time. I weaned off the Clonazepam during COVID...
...it’s honestly hard to say. I started taking it about 3 1/2 weeks ago, then the very next day got hit with awful upper respiratory viral infection that lasted for 14-15 days. Ears honestly held somewhat stable through all of that despite my awful spike in August that made me switch to clonazepam…
I've recently tried Rivotril (Clonazepam) and it did reduce the loudness of my tinnitus. I'd say by 25-30%. I won't continue as I've pretty much habituated to it but I'll keep it in case of a major setback.
Do you take Clonazepam regularly? Does it actually help with tinnitus?
I’ve considered it as well, although doctors in our country are very reluctant to prescribe it.
...300 mg of Gabapentin in January and increased the dosage to 900 mg by the beginning of March. During this period, I had taken 0.5 mg of Clonazepam a few times, perhaps three or four times, which significantly reduced my tinnitus for around 5-6 hours. However, at the end of February, I began...
There's a thread about Carbamazepine that you might find helpful. Some people report benefits from using it, while others don't. A few members here take it in combination with Clonazepam, though it's worth noting that it can cause negative side effects for some individuals.
Thanks, @Wouter De Blaere! How have Deanxit and Aripiprazole been working for you without Clonazepam?
Could you share any common side effects you've experienced?
Thanks,
Nick
...cumulative. AFAIK I thought that bad acupuncture effects are immediate. How long this worsening would last (if is reversible) if I stopped the acupuncture treatment?
Another cause could be Clonazepam but I'm at low dose (0.25 mg three times/day) since 17 days ago.
What's your opinion?
Thanks.
Hey guys,
I was taking Clonazepam 2-4 mg once every three to four days for about six weeks.
I stopped taking it and then immediately experienced pretty pronounced withdrawal on the 3rd day, thus I reinstated on 2 mg and tapered over about two weeks with the last four doses being Valium.
I...
...loudness or pain hyperacusis? @Cmspgran It took 2 years last time. I was coping with moderately severe tinnitus to a reasonable degree but now completely dysfunctional.
What do you do with clonazepam, is it 0.25mg or higher if you can sense a tough day? Adjust doses to the need kind of thing?
Clonazepam is effective for me, and I have never experienced any sudden increase in my tinnitus. If you fall asleep and your hissing starts, it's easy to blame the medication since it might seem louder.
Mirtazapine works well for me; it's my preferred medication with a dosage of 2-3 mg along...
Is Clonazepam losing its effectiveness in lowering your tinnitus and anxiety? Does it seem like your tinnitus is rebounding to a new higher baseline after coming down off the Clonazepam? It seems like that might be happening with my Lorazepam (Ativan), despite taking only one 0.5 mg pill every...
I've been on clonazepam 0.5 twice a day for the past three months to help cope with my T. I developed it four months ago. I am thankful it was available when this started. It helped me get through some really rough days. I am at the point where I would like to taper off the drug if possible. I...
