2024 US Presidential Election

I think silencing Jimmy Kimmel is a big mistake for America. I think satirical humor played a big part in keeping Americans sane. One should not underestimate the importance of comedic relief.

I don't think Gutfeld will have the same impact.
Try saying anything you want at most jobs, and you'll be fired immediately. Everybody knows this. It's about time he learned it as well.

Stand-up comedy is usually bad. Kimmel is not funny. He's been losing his audience for some time.

Yes, fired or fired upon, evidently in the U.S.

I agree!
Kimmel is not funny.
I strongly disagree! Not only is he funny, his humor is very intelligent, well-crafted, very well executed, and satirically sharp as a knife.
He's been losing his audience for some time.
That is you just parroting your hero.

Denmark has announced plans to invest hundreds of millions into Greenland's economy to strengthen ties with the island and is expected to unveil a proposal in the coming weeks for increased Arctic defense spending. This month, joint military training exercises are taking place in Greenland, involving participation from Denmark and several NATO allies.

The European Conservative has recently published an article titled, Denmark Announces Large Investment in Greenland's Infrastructure, suggesting that Trump's talk of annexing the island may have been bait for Copenhagen to spend more on defense, which will now reach NATO benchmark levels.
Good for them. Fuck with NATO, and you light the fire. The best defense in the world.

It is not about being funny. It is about the principle, the television cast doing whatever it takes to keep the clown happy.

He was not doing well: At the start of 2025, Jimmy Kimmel Live! was averaging 1.946 million total viewers and 212,000 in the key 18–49 advertising demographic — numbers already trailing Colbert and barely ahead of Fallon.

In America, an employer has the right to fire employees, unless it is discriminatory or prejudicial. Whether Kimmel is entertaining or not is a matter of opinion, but basing his entire act on attacking those with whom he disagrees politically has its consequences. He went way too far in his remarks concerning Charlie Kirk's death.

Disney is bringing Jimmy back, due to its share price falling and loss of revenue, as well as Jimmy's fans being upset with Disney's obvious capitulation.

We are in unprecedented times. Corporations are getting pressure from the administration to bend to their political whim, and then pressure from consumers who vote with their wallets. They just want to make money (the sole reason for a business to exist) and want to take the path of least resistance to the most profit, but are struggling because this administration is injecting itself in ways never before.

Disney cancelled to appease the Trump administration as to avoid any retribution. Losing money was the only acceptable excuse to undo the cancellation (their excuse made me angry and laugh). The administration will forgive them this because, after all, they only speak in capitalistic terms. And it will give them another excuse to blame people on the left by saying they bullied a corporation. It's such a tired song and dance.

Kimmel supporters threatened to boycott Disney for the suspension. Now, those who are opposed to Kimmel's return can boycott Disney and his sponsors for bringing him back.

Since Disney went Woke, they've gone downhill in every way imaginable.

What heartwarming speeches from The Don and Stephen Miller at Kirk's memorial service! The way they focused on him as a person and his legacy.

They could so easily have spewed out hatred and tried to profit politically on his tragic death. Instead, they chose the unifying path and turned the other cheek, as true Christians.

It's great to see how America is getting Greater by the day, just as promised!

I watched it and came away with a different perspective. I don't recall the hate that Trump and Miller delivered as part of a Christian memorial service. If you believed it was heartwarming, then it's no wonder the percentage of Americans identifying as evangelical/Christian is in decline.

Are you being honest or sarcastic? Someone on Newsmax was impressed by Stephen Miller.

When I originally read the post, I thought that he was being sarcastic. I still do.

Trump is planning to bail out Argentina to the tune of $20 billion. I wonder if he will be as generous with our welfare farmers.

Of course, China is now replacing American-grown soybeans with Argentina's, so it is kind of a double kick in the balls.

The farmers will switch to not growing corn, which the taxpayers will then pay them not to grow. They are against socialism until they need a check, and then they are all in.

My father's generation, including him, fought fascists in WWII. Family members in the American armed forces died in Europe fighting fascism. The consensus in America was, and still is, that killing fascists was necessary.

You posted something that refers to Charlie Kirk as a "fascist". Do you believe this is what he was and that killing him was the right response?

No, I don't stand behind the title of the clip. The only thing I wanted to show was what the two named speakers at the memorial said!

Killing is never the right response in my view.

I do not know enough about CK to put any label on him, even though you are probably waiting for me to do so. The few things I do know, from what he himself proclaimed, I strongly disagree with.

From what I can gather (not labeling), he was a Christian extremist, and I find that just as dangerous as any other form of extremism.

What I can say to you, @Luman, is that I love, admire, and respect America for the First Amendment. No one deserves to be killed for using that right.

The Second Amendment, however, is harder for me to understand or believe in. I think the defender it is meant to protect can, in a split second, become the attacker.

The fact that CK was such an avid believer in it—to the point that it was worth collateral death to uphold it—strikes me as deeply troubling. The last thing he did, in the very moment before he was killed, was to "gaslight" mass shootings. I find that dark, poetic, and grimly ironic.
