Remember everyone, brain implants require a Brain MRI, and most of these scans exceed 100 dBA. There are plenty of alarming stories about this on here. I am not saying you should lose hope, but it is something to keep in mind.
I would give almost anything to reduce the tinnitus to a point that a fan or a sound machine would be vaguely relevant. You are blessed.Personally, I like experimenting with masking because it helps me right now, not at some uncertain point in the future. Without a bedside fan and a sound machine, things would be very different for me.

This isn't true. Several studies have demonstrated significant and consistent reductions in tinnitus with DBS, although the sample sizes have been very limited. Neurosoft is planning to launch their phase 2 study for their tinnitus implant next year, based on positive phase 1 data in a cohort of six. Topline results from that trial are expected next month.Brain implants and similar ideas have been dangled in front of tinnitus sufferers for decades. None of them have worked—if they had, we would have heard about it.
People use different methods to manage their tinnitus, but actually banishing it or curing it? There is zero scientific evidence that this is even remotely possible. Coping strategies, however, are possible and can relieve a lot of stress. We just have to find what works for each of us.
Someone once told me they prefer to focus on potential future cures. Personally, I like experimenting with masking because it helps me right now, not at some uncertain point in the future. Without a bedside fan and a sound machine, things would be very different for me.
