      Noise
Noise inside the head is unacceptable.
There are no two ways about that.
      Hateful and horrible.
But by actively hating it, rejecting it, fighting it, despising it, we make it ten times worse.
I am struggling as much as anybody on here.

BUT - the nearer we can come to accepting this phenomena as ‘normal’ ‘survivable’ ‘liveable’ the calmer we will be.
I have tried to explore the techniques of meditation, deep relaxation, distraction, writing, conversation, all avenues that help to have a calming effect.

I would also add, “do not be put off from exploring these purely natural remedies by the ‘science based, cure or nothing, horizon watchers,’ who seem to angrily dismiss the asssistance that they can give as mere placebos.”
Meditation has helped millions to come to terms with seemingly impossible situations over the years.
      Worth a try folks.

      Please note,
      - at no time did I use the dreaded “H” word.
I’m not even a bit silly.

(..er..no comments from the peanut gallery please..)

      Hi Holly
Not the time to go into my full history just now, but I’ll just say that my schizoid/depression formed in infancy.
My mother was mentally ill with catastrophic depression, so there was no bonding for me.
I would say that my depression stayed with me well up into my thirties.
Now to answer your question, I eventually went to see a brilliant psychoanalyst, who knew that any improvement in my mental/emotional state was highly unlikely unles and until I had learnt her relaxation techniques.

She got me to assume the oral characteristics of a new born baby:
      Lips closed
      Teeth and jaws comfortably apart
Inside of the mouth quite quite soft
      Tongue floating gently in water.
      Throat soft and relaxed.
She would gently check the softness of my throat and mouth by feeling my throat gently between her thumb and fingers.
      There was no cheating her.
If I had it right I would hear her whisper to me
      ‘lovely - so lovely.’
This was the pre-requisite of her meditation lesson.

Sit back in an easy chair - arms on the chair arms.
Lay head gently to one side, so that the tongue does not block the breathing.
Take a deep nose breath in,
      Breath out through the mouth,
having previously asked your tummy to breath for you.
From now on, no more conscious breathing.
There are reflexes in your diaphragm that will instigate an in-breath, and reflexes in your chest to instigate an out breath.
      Allow breathing to ‘just happen.’
As soon as I have established a state of peace, I then think about what my auto-suggestion needs to be.
If I’m not quite deep enough, I will think the word deeper - deeper - deeper -deeper....
Then my primary message to assist with Tinnitus acceptance:
‘Easy Dave - hiss is normal’
‘Easy Dave - hiss is normal’
‘Easy Dave - hiss is normal’
‘Easy Dave - hiss is normal.’
Then I leave everything and drift off beautifully.
When I am ready, I become aware of that, and count down from ten to zero.
Open my eyes - lick my lips - have a good stretch - get up slowly, and get on with my day.

Sorry this is so long, but if you wish to try it for yourself, you now have all the information you need.
After half a lifetime of unbelievable stress, I was so ready to adopt this, and effectively learnt it in one lesson.
She said ‘Dave - you soaked it up just like a sponge.
I do it every morning in a nice warm bath.
      I never miss.
      Hope it helps Holly.
      Dave xx

      @Holly1987

I am quite sure that there are people on here with different methods, but I learnt from a real master, and have done it successfully for many years.
