Hi I'm new here.

I've had this for years really low level notice it at night more hissing and a whirring sound but didn't notice it when had tv or radio on.

I recently had a cold last week and the level has increased so much now I can hear it loud all the time.

I hate it it's almost scaring me if that makes sense.

Can it get worse after a cold and will it get a bit better again also I put drops in my ears recently would that agitate it?

Thank u x

Welcome to the forum? It is possible that a cold can cause ETD or sinus problem which are known to cause tinnitus or make it worse. Also some cold medicines can be ototoxic. Have you taken any cold medicines? What sort of drops you put in your ears? Are those drops prescribed by an ENT? Take care. God bless.

I started with the cold about ten days ago but the noise has got worse the last three days I put in otex it's an over the counter ear drop I don't see a ent specialist x

Welcome to TT. As Billie48 pointed out, it could be due to ETD or sinus problems, or perhaps medications. If it doesn't get better, it would be a good idea to see a specialist. I'm going to see one in a couple of days.
