For those of you with hissing/static, is it constant? Or does it waver/oscillate?

I've had this type for a long while now and sometimes it goes for like a week at most.

Just want to hear some opinions/see if anyone has this same type.

My tinnitus is a high pitch hiss and also I have like a static sound as well, sometimes both at the same time, mine is there all the time but the volume will fluctuate, some days are a lot louder than others.

Constant. The only time mine's ever wavered was when I had earwax build up.

Constant for the last month and 3 days aside from TWO days only in late September where it went away completely. Talk about a tease, right? I also noticed it gone in the mornings a few times, but it will return after an hour at most. This began the night after a 6 hour flight that I was very anxious about. I had been convinced it was stress induced, but after calming down a great deal in the last two weeks, it still remains. Guess I might be stuck with static in my head for life beginning at 34. Good times, right?

So you just began hearing this static hiss after too much loud music? What is it like at this point?

Do you get some days where it’s a pleasant sound or sounds? I have all sorts going on at times, I sometimes drift off to it... the highest pitch is awful must say though

My static and hiss change off, static I notice and hiss I don't. I think when I have static it sets off my anxiety or I notice my symptoms of anxiety more, but I also have crickets sounds that come and go. Mine also changes in volume without notice. Basically I have irregular tinnitus.

I have all sorts of sounds most of the time, sometimes all at the same time. Mine usually stays a high pitch hiss all the time, while sometimes it's clicking and static. I sleep now with nothing on, and I’ll drift off to sleep, it’s weird now because I can hardly stand any other sound when I’m trying to go to sleep, just my hissing.

How’s your sleep? Can you drift off to sleep?

Not really sure, I came home from band practice one day and It was just a pure tone. I got used to that in like 3 days. at some point 3 months later it turned into a shrill shit show for some unknown reason. a year later it started to settle down into something more pleasant and not annoying, but for some reason it's back with more of a static and this have been going on for 3 months now. But the sound literally is fluctuates in volume by the second

Same here. Sorry to hear you are going through this, but I guess it's a pretty nice bright spot knowing that even after a year things can subside for someone.

Yep I %100 believe at some point T has to stabilize be it those hair cells just dying and leaving it constant or it fading. I'm struggling big time and haven't felt like this since I first got the static sound.

Sometimes it’s screaming a bit too much to sleep straight away, sometimes I like listening to it... if it’s really high pitched it’s worse but since going to CBT I deal with the emotional side way better, also started TRT last week so have another noise in my ears now which is even better...

I have several different sounds that are changing every second. High pitch hiss, clicking, humming, crickets etc. I've had it for three years and it hasn't stabilized at all. Habituation will most probably never happen and it's almost like getting tinnitus over and over and over again...

Settle, like in that it stabilizes, or becomes lower? My T also changes in number of noises and intensity from day to day but very rarely becomes lower. If it does, it's only for maybe for a couple of hours.

In that it stabilizes? I've had it settle into crickets for about a month and I felt like a new person.

I have a nasty static sound, but think it could be from upper neck facet joints. My lower back facet joints are bad, affecting my feet/toes. They get numb and sting. I need a L4-L5 fusion.

No not even for two seconds. It's a dream to have it settle to something I can get used to.

Like 2.5 years, it's not perfect and I still have terrible spikes but they are way less frequent now

@PDodge how are you now? My static noise has become oscillating this week and I feel like I’m losing my mind. Did yours settle?

I have a constant high pitch "eee" but sometimes static "shhhh" when it becomes quiet (on good days). Recently, I have developed a new metallic car braking screech that oscillates. The oscillation is intolerable because it is VERY HARD TO IGNORE. I hope this new oscillation sound is temporary or I'll go insane.

Hey, I think I’m going through a similar experience to what you went through. I’m coming up on six months with no improvement. Actually, it’s only gotten worse. Around two weeks after a band practice, I had a mild reactive hiss. Over the next two months, it became more shrill, piercing, and electrical. The baseline and reactivity have gotten louder and more intrusive in regard to tone. At what point did things start to improve for you? The reactivity is killing me.
