      Hi all - another sufferer returning after a spike. I've been in this new mess for about 5 days and I don't think I can handle the sleeplessness, guilt, insanity, etc., again. I've been super stressed at work and gave into a few cigarettes last week, and bam! Spike. I blame myself.

      I haven't slept since Saturday night, and I can't return to my psychD until next week. I don't want to go through the med cycle again, but I find it so hard to handle my emotions. I'm so tired and just lay awake thinking about how nice it would be to slip away. Without getting into all my spiritual beliefs, hangups, I feel like I'm losing faith. Even if I get over this spike, another is just down the road.

      Ugh, writing this makes me feel pathetic, but I need to vent it somewhere. My partner is can't handle me during these spikes and I just feel so alone (especially at 4am).

      Any words of encouragement, people who have Meniere's, those that have habituated multiple times after spikes - the briefest response is appreciated. I feel like I'm dying.

      I'm sorry to hear this. Just know you are not alone. You have friends here on this site that totally understand what you're going through. I too feel this way. Search your soul for strength to persevere and you will find it is there.

      Thanks @JohnAdams I really appreciate it. As everyone knows here, it can be so hard to find sanity at times. I know I pushed through it before, and that's what I've got to remember.

      this is true even for perfectly healthy people, so that just shows how much worse our plight is. just be strong and know we are a family of sorts. hopefully there will be a release for us sometime relatively soon. until then, it's one step at a time, one foot before the other. good luck to you.

      I am pretty sure this spike will be temporary. I have never heard of someone getting a permanent spike from nicotine, only temporary. This is similar to caffeine and alcohol.

      I know it is hard, but try to relax. I also see that you have meniere's disease so I am not sure if certain substances effect that specifically. @glynis also has menieres so she might be able to help.

      @Sleep,
      I have had Meniere's for many years and know how bad it can get.
      For people with Menieres who have really bad tinnitus you can take Cinnarazine 15mg tablet up to two 3 or 4 times aday and the only medication that states can reduce Tinnitus.

      Also have your hearing tested if it drops after a Meniere's flairup.

      love glynis

      @Stu1983 - I didn't see your message. Symptoms haven't improved, but I did see my doctor yesterday. Not much to say as always.

      I did want to ask the board: my psychiatrist recommended medical marijuana for my anxiety since I've been looking to get off benzos for quite some time. She recommended it for at least a short course to supplement if there were any benzo withdrawal symptoms. I started that January 1, this spike started January 14. Does anyone have experience with tinnitus spiking because of THC?

      I am sorry to hear about the trouble you are having and I have had the same thing for 20 years. It was only recently that I got relief. I've been through all of the doctors and crazy medications.

      I had an endolymphatic shunt installed two years ago and have not had a single episode since. I've been able to return to a normal degree with sodium. I still avoid caffeine and alcohol for the most part but it was a life saver.

      It took a long while to find the right doctor but there is a great ear specialist that works in Fort Worth and Plano that knew what my issue was and took care of it.

      Just know that there is a chance of relief out there.
