It's the bliss of being able to put your head to the pillow for 1 maybe 2 nights and hearing nothing but the rustle of your bedsheets. My head feels balanced, the right feels like the left again, I can be normal for a little while.

It's good to have a little control again.

      Reasonable.

I wonder if prolonged, deliberate lifestyle changes to increase serotonin transmission, could have a subtle but longer-term effect. That might explain some of the reports of tinnitus intensity and distress decreasing following diligent exercise, yoga, meditation.

I'd be more enthusiastic about using MDMA as an occaisional bandaid if I didn't have a sinking suspicion it might make things worse for me over a longer period of time. I was definitely subjected (and subjected myself) to all kinds of 5-HT agonists over the years.

Hello guys, I'm new to this forum and I'd like to tell you about my recent experience.

After an acoustic shock to my right ear in Sept 2014, I was diagnosed @ 77% on some sort of tinnituus questionnaire life impairment scale in early Jan 15.

The accuracy and/or meaningfulness of that questionnaire I cannot ascertain but early Jan 15 saw me take a considerable turn for the worse with my right ear volume going up massively - a 10,000hz whistling plus a constant sausage sizzle.

Adding to all of this, the side-effects of the Diazapam and Temazapam I was prescribed after my complete meltdown gave me what I describe as a 'cathedral ring' in the whole of my head making my tinnitus experience only worse.

Yes, I could sleep on and off with elasticated headband earphones (great idea btw - look on Amazon) but the drug-induced fogginess in my brain the next day plus the unabating noise made the whole thing really only worse.

I would have occasional breaks of quiet inbetween but overall I now know the depths of despair that tinnitus can cause.

Looking at all the forums, I tried a few of the wide range of anecdotal 'cures' and treatments for tinnitus. Working for myself, I could afford the luxury of 3-4 hr hot baths and scented candles which certainly helped calm me down. Valium stilled my mind for durations of time but the side-effects took their toll. I tried soothing music to sleep which helped and white noise which didn't, and was existing on 2-3-4 hrs sleep a night. I needed to take time off (anathema to me) but I just could not work.

After reading about the experimental trials with MDMA for tinnitus in Quiet magazine in a hospital waiting room, I contacted a friend who got me a high purity ecstasy Domino pill which I took just over one month ago.

Since that time, the noise has dropped right down and I have not had my sausage sizzle once!

I am also a member of a local church who have supported me with much love and PRAYER over the last few months. I really do believe in the power of prayer but I also cannot escape the fact my marked improvement also appeared one day after taking an 'illegal' party pill.

By posting this I am not looking to encourage illegal activity and neither have I yet told anybody at church about the turn around in my condition. A moral dilemma maybe? Not for me personally. But most certainly a dilemma in the eyes of others.

Personally speaking, I find the headlines concerning MDMA highly charged, ill-informed and scaremongering, especially when set against the backdrop of the bucketloads of highly toxic and largely useless drugs prescribed every day without even the blink of an eye. Who actually makes the rules?

Given the fact the medical benefits of MDMA have been charted and expounded for many years, I believe the current policy regarding this drug in particular to be intellectually compromised.

Whilst I cannot with 100% certainty say that ecstasy reduced my tinnitus, if the noise levels return, I will certainly try it again. And if the same positive effects occur (and believe me the last 5 weeks reprieve has been WONDERFUL,) this will highlight for me the need to look at how and why ecstasy seems to work.

I've emailed the NewZealand professor running the MDMA tinnitus trials but he cannot tell me how or why this drug might work until the results of the MRI scans. And I for one really want to know.

Ask me anything! And thanks for reading.

Bumping this thread because I hope to god the people who posted here are still around.

I've had tinnitus for 16 years. I got it at my first rock concert. The first time was horrible, then I got used to it. Got a bunch of problems because nobody was there to explain this stuff to me! OCD, anxieties... you name it. Anyway, time passed, I got through uni, got a bunch of awesome friends, moved several times, got a job, had moderate success (local shows, haha) with my music, became a raver, became not a raver again... through all this time, the tinnitus was there but it wasn't bothering me anymore. It was so silent I couldn't hear it at all. Or perhaps I was not concentrating on it. Always a tricky one, eh? Mind me, I've been to huge clubs with a Funktion One standing right next to the speakers and my tinnitus? Nothing.

Anyway, about two weeks ago, following a loooong series of stressful events events, I got a new tinnitus. Or maybe it's my old one except it's changed. Who the hell can tell? My tinnitus was always kind of wandering in frequency. The new one is very high, not even 10000 Hz, forget it, far higher. It's like one of those old TVs. Plus stronger on the left ear. High-pitched sounds, rich sounds in general, excite it and seem to make it worse about half of the time, which is the most annoying thing.

I became totally desperate. I thought I was over this! I am in treatment at all kinds of doctors - dentist, ear doctor, going to an orthopaedic... But well, you know what, even though there might be factors that make the tinnitus worse - I know for a fact my jaw isn't too well, for instance - it's obvious what caused it. My new job (had it for about a year) is hard and not as relaxed as my old one. I got my student load repayment letter and have to pay an astronomical sum (thankfully, German authorities aren't too much of a PITA, but still, it's debt). And just two weeks ago, a few days before the tinnitus got worse / came, I broke up with my girlfriend of over a year, perhaps the most serious relationship I have ever been involved in. I've been missing her since, but I cannot ask her to take me back because I honestly don't know if I want to make another honest attempt or if I want comfort. I don't trust myself at the moment, what with the constant anxiety.

Anyway, whew, long story... I'm totally at the end of my ropes. A bit better since yesterday, but generally bad. The ear doctor decided to treat me with cortisone. No clue if it's helping or not (it does seem to have become less stable), but it gave me a bunch of additional side effects like lack of sleep and even more crazy mood swings. Holy cow.

Which leads me to the actual topic at hand. MDMA. Serotonin. All that jazz. Let me begin slowly....

Yesterday, my cortisone side effects decided to give me a mood swing up. Anyone who was under cortisone in the past will probably know how that feels. Suddenly, you have so much energy you could run a marathon, despite the fact you've only slept for two hours. You think, "screw all this... I will make it! What's so bad, after all? Life is awesome!" You take a long walk and take in everything around you. The tinnitus might even still be there, but you just don't care anymore. You don't even make plan - you just live in the moment.

This is when I realized, I used to feel like this. No, not under MDMA (that was pretty good though, hehe). I used to feel like this all the time. This is how humans are supposed to feel. I used to feel like this years ago almost all the time, before the apparent depression of years must have crept up. Because I don't remember having felt so alive in years. But this, or close to this, used to be my natural state.

I came home, and the tinnitus was... no, not gone. And still music excited it. But it was, well, better. That night I got sleep - not good sleep, mind me, but about the quality you can reasonably ask for after weeks of living in anxiety hell, plus being on a stress hormone.

So what does it all have to do with MDMA? Well, I used to be a really, really, really regular user. MDMA and ecstasy. Never had any problems with tinnitus, despite the loud volumes you usually subject yourself to in places you are, um, likely to consume this drug. Yeah, it also threw my happy hormones off balance, so I would never recommend anyone to abuse the drug. But it opened up some things to me that I believed non-existant, or long gone. It also made me connect with other people more. You can always say it's a fake connection, but as a one-off experience, it's impressive.

It is NOT a cure for depression, at least not in the amounts and the way it is consumed in clubs. If anything, in the long run it will deepen the depression. But right now, while I'm at the end of my ropes, reading this thread has seriously given me hope. In fact, the high-pitched TV is gone right now cause I have hope, hahaha! (The lower f****r is still there but I think that's always been there, more or less, so not having the damn TV is a definite huge improvement.) I just wish there was a way to feel better, more secure and with more serotonin permanently...

Of course I will be on cortisone for the next 6 days. Plus I think I might have caught something evil in my lung during the cortisone treatment (it lowers your immune system and I was hanging around bars). But when that is taken care of, I'm thinking of experimenting a bit with a low dosage. Not the kind of dose I used to take, just enough to remind me that life, in fact, kicks ass and you people are beautiful. :D

I'm a bit scared of the comedown effects. They've traditionally been kind of bad for me (again, high dosages though), and I fear this might worsen the issue. I might not go for it at all, and try first to seek out all kinds of other ways to boost my serotonin levels. But at least this thread is kind of a proof that THERE IS A DIRECT LINK BETWEEN YOUR SEROTONIN LEVELS AND TINNITUS.

A very direct link. Losing my girlfriend, regretting the decision, stress at work and the conviction that my life was over now that I had to repay the student loan completely depleted mine. I think I need to get some of that s*** back.

Yes, there absolutely is. And that's the biggest reason that I don't take MDMA anymore ;D

Exercise; meditation; good diet; good sleep. Good serotonin regulation.

Ive had tinnitus since 2001 and from 2005-2013 I did ecstasy maybe 15 or 20 times and it never
      helped my tinnitus.
I was safe about it and tested my pills and made sure they were the real thing.

If anything it made it temporary worse after.
Some times during the experience I think it made it better though but only during.

I did MDMA again yesterday night ... did 100 mg at 7 in the evening ... and than took another 100 during the next 8 hours ...

      BLISSFULL SILENCE and PEACE!!!

      why? I don`t know! :(

under the influence I came with the idea that everyone that had tinnitus after noise exposure are NOT people that took drugs that evening or moment ... drugs disrupt the glutamate to form into tinnitus ... it short fuses the T signal to nest in the brain.

I was a DJ and party goer for many years and mostly did it on MDMA or acid... never got T.

only 7 years into my partying after I stopped taking drugs suddenly it came after one night.

someone says he gained absolute silence ... and one smart person thinks it is informative ...

MDMA holds a key to our Tinnitus destiny ! ... take it and see for yourself if you like ... for a one time or even few times use ( or maybe even more, who can tell??) it is less dangerous than retigabine, less dangerous than any anti-depressant and cheaper too! and best of all it is uplifting and shows you deep wisdom into your own heart and being - creates space for deep emotional healing or connecting to loved ones or even enemies ... AND even better - it gives you solid silence for atleast a period of 4-6 hours ... just to remember what it is like it is worth it ... but first stop believing the lies your government has taught you that this is a dangerous drug ... these drug are a danger to their corrupt system ... this is why they call these mind expanding drugs ... because they show you to look beyond your normal mind, the mind that school and government teach you... But of course unless you do this it is only a fantasy you can`t even dream of ... so it is clear only a few people understand the significance of a 100 mg pill that gives 6 hours silence!

not to mention my cognitive functions were improved and was able to play ping pong with becoming better and better every game through logical insight into physics ... for anyone that has take retigabine you know you become as dumb as a log of wood! ... MDMA makes you even smarter and is able to turn of your mind and zone into the moment and highten awareness .......
dangerous drugs ... pfff ... these laws are a joke to people that have looked beyond their imaginary veil.

depends what you want ... any first time user with normal health can take a normal dose up to 125mgs ... he will just be amazed by the discovery and experience .... it is strong but nothing you can`t handle. But sure you need to read about the possible effects first ... and about set and setting.

it was over a year ago since i took MDMA... I knew what to expect but my body just took it as that. So it is save if you use it like you should.

and even than it is still pretty safe ..

bad drugs stories involve meth and MDA combined with MDMA ... MDMA can be ingested up to 200mg and you`re still `healthy` ... very high!! but healthy ...

if you want to try it and manage to find some in a discotheqe or wherever ... after testing the purity of it ... you will want to make your house very cosy, take out you best music ... dim the lights and spend some time with your partner or friend ... just talking laughing and enjoying ...

swim (someone who isn`t me) wouldn`t take tabs, find a crystal and have it checked for purity. Or if you find it form a good soruce you can save the money to test it ... here in this country swim is safe and has good connections if he needs it. White or yellowish-brown is good indication.

Not wanting to deter anyone that may have positive effects from this but I will share my experience and some advice.

It's not uncommon for MDMA users to become depressed in the few days to a week after using it. They are called Suicide Tuesdays for a reason.

If your T is worse when you are depressed or somehow linked to depression in any way, proceed with caution. Not everyone has post MDMA depression, but it can be extremely harsh. This in itself can make your T worse, or make you notice and worry about it more.

You will likely also suffer from sleeping difficulties(which can be a problem anyway if you have T!), I had that for a whole week and this was really, really bad for my T.

A standard recreational dose of MDMA is around 150mg, but if you are trying it for therapeutic reasons you can take less (80mg or so) which will much gentler for your week after.

It took me about a week to properly recover my mood, get some properly sleep and get back to my baseline T levels.

Well, anyone tried this thing lately?

I see many people got great deal of reduction while they are on drug. I'm planning to use this thing when I want to take a break from my T.. We all deserve a break. Hate the way they've left us to our fucking destiny.

MDMA is a dangerous drug to use if it's not from a medical professional.

I've used it recreationally, and while I enjoyed it there are many stories of people suffering nerve damage and such from it.

I don't think it would be a suitable T treatment.
