Has anyone tried taking Nicotinamide Riboside supplements?

 

This is an interesting one I need to look into more.

I guess it would be worth a try, but it can spike you for a few hours as well if it is not for you.

Is Vitamin B3 (Niacin/Niacinamide) the same as Nicotinamide Riboside (NR)?

The study used Nicotinamide Riboside, and it was the form that was deemed effective in preventing noise-induced hearing loss.

I am confused.

I think that there are multiple sources of Vitamin B3; the regular Vitamin B3 (Niacin/Niacinamide) and the one they've experimented with and which is sold under the name of Nicotinamide Riboside.

My conclusion is that Nicotinamide Riboside is more neuroprotective than Vitamin B3 (Niacin/Niacinamide).

And you can see the prices are not the same. Nicotinamide Riboside is far more expensive than Vitamin B3 (Niacin/Niacinamide).

 

I was just going to post this, and yes, you are right. B3 supplements are not likely to contain any NR.

Never tried Niacin or any B3 before but it couldn't hurt. Just ordered some Nicotinamide Riboside and will try the whole bottle. Cheers!

 

Beer and milk sounds like a good option to me, not together of course though!

 

I am really looking forward to this. Right now I have a fear of sounds and if NR would be confirmed to have the same effect on humans, my fears would go away. Since this works on a really low level I hope that it has a good chance to work the same as well, maybe the research team would be able to answer this, I think I will contant them.

For those of you who ordered 'Niagen Nicotinamide Riboside' please report your experiences ASAP, if there are any. I might order it today as well.

Looks like this research looks specifically at tinnitus caused by noise exposure. Wonder if the supplement has any affect on T not caused by noise, like mine. Still: Couldn't hurt to give it a try. I have had some relief with NAC.

I'm two days in and have taken 2 pills (2 x 250 MG = 500 MG/day) each morning before food. I'm not gonna report anything about my experience until I finish the bottle, which should take a month. See you guys in 2015!

It seems as though they start at a low dose and work upwards depending upon at what level patients experience improvement. I think I have seen 300mg/day somewhere too but not sure where now sorry.

The capsules are kind of hardy, I tried dissolving two in water this morning and this is what they looked like after 25 minutes.

Barely dissolved. I'm not saying that they wouldn't dissolve better in our stomachs with bile and 98.6 F temperature, but I'm going to take my pills apart and dissolve the B3 in water from now on.

 

Have you noticed any improvement yet
