First big spike in a while. It was stable for a bit then my right ear increased in volume a few days ago. Hope it settles down.

Don't be afraid to advocate for yourself. Took a drive w/ my Dad. He had the window down. I didn't want to say anything. Paying for it now.

My brother accidentally set off the smoke alarm last night. T and H a bit worse as a result, but I'm better at dealing with it nowadays.

It should subside, just give it time. Hope you are dealing with it better at the very least <3

Ears are ringing more from walking past construction today. Hopefully it's irritation and not a full spike - there's a difference I think.

I'm having some earwax buildup again. What's the safest way to remove it? I've heard conflicting reports.

Manual removal by ENT. Allegedly, it will also come out on its own if you pour some drops of olive oil into your ear.

I had some earwax removed today. The ENT did it manually with some kind of tool.

Noticed after exercise or being in a hot tub I can hear my heartbeat in my right ear. Goes away after a few minutes. Pulsatile tinnitus?

I can also hear it when wearing heavy ear protection (earmuffs) but it is fairly soft.

I remember having this way before my intrusive tinnitus ever set in. I think it's pretty normal under those circumstances.

It's more likely it's elevated blood pressure. Hot baths can increase it too.

Anyone else ever got a spike from the valsalva maneuver? If so, how long did it last?
      1. Kriszti
        Kriszti
Yes, I did. I clogged my ears doing the Valsalva, T spiked, lasted a couple of days and had a hissing sound on top of my regular sounds, which also subsided. I got burning pain as well, so went to the doctor to check if I messed up my eardrum, but that was intact, thanks God. There is a thread here on Valsalva going bad as well. Hope your spike goes away soon.

Every time I do the Valsalva maneuver I have a spike. It usually lasts a good few hours. So I try to do it before I go to sleep.

May have a mild spike from a too-forceful valsalva maneuver. Be careful!

Experimenting w/ coffee intake. 1 cup doesn't do much to T. 2-3 cups cause a mild increase. 4+ cups = bigger increase, also very jittery.

If I drank 4 cups I think I would sky Rocket into space. 2 already makes me feel jittery. My t mildly increases with caffeine temporarily

6 days into quitting vaping/nicotine. Tired w/ brain fog but T is pretty much back to baseline. Hoping for continued improvement there.

Another crack at quitting vaping. Now on day 2. T is up, as expected, but not too bad. If I can just make it through this week...

Tried to quit nicotine. After 2 days I had bad withdrawals and a t spike. Went back today. Now I have a strange new tone. Can't win :(

Had my 2 month Tinnitiversary a few days ago. Aside from a big recent spike it seems to be slowly getting better. We'll see at 3 months.

Could be a delayed spike from my bike ride or something else in the last few days. Is this delay common?

It was probably the bike ride. Longest spike yet - 5 days now. I'll keep hanging in there.

I done the same recently. Didn't wear ear protection in my noisy old car (I've always worn protection in car) and the next day my T was pretty intrusive. I definitely became careless. Easily done.

New T seems like a good excuse as any to quit nicotine. 2 yrs of cigs and 5 of vape; now once my juice runs out I'll put it down for good.

Anyone wear foam earplugs for sleep? I sleep on my side and the seal sometimes breaks. Should I be concerned?
      1. Gabriel5050
        Gabriel5050
I don't think it's a concern. I recently tried some earplugs made out of pure wax and you can mold them, put them in your ears and then the part that remains outside push with your finger again against your outer ear, making the best seal I experienced. Not the best reduction. They claim it's 27 dB. Worth a try I would say.

The only reason you should be concerned is if you're sleeping on an active construction site.

Same here. I especially notice it more in the dark, but it's still mild enough that it doesn't usually bother me. Wish my T was like that tbh

Ear fullness from yesterday still there. Hearing is muffled with mild t spike. I'd guess from pressure changes while underwater swimming.

Anxiety about t is high. Took ear plugs in and out sitting on my patio in the rain. Felt a slight pop in one ear. T is same, still worried
