Anyone know if wax ear plugs are okay as long as you are not talking? For sleeping or just around the house? Most fit too deep and irritate. Sep 10, 2022

I've tried earplugs but nothing fits or stays in. My best thing is Cotten balls I tear off a bit & shove in as far as I need to.

Sorry to hear about that @MaxRabbit. Have you got any support around you lately, family or friends? Anymore Dr's appointment etc? Not that they seem to offer much :(
Eh I'm OK ear ringing in my left ear that gets worse/louder when lying down is horrendous for me as I'm getting disturbed sleep which as you know has a knock on effect. Holding out for hope and relief. Sending a virtual hug your way :).

Tried BT single speakers. Tribit has great sound! Easy on ears, very clean. But, connection would cut and it came back on at max volume. Didnt bother with another. Got Bose high-fi BT spkr. Quality? No idea. Voice prompt SO LOUD had to have my friend go shut it off. Why the fuck are speaker (JBL too) prompt sounds so loud!? Im back to using cheap SONY BT. Hope you can have better luck! Hope you are well!

I've been looking at the type of earplug a singer wears so u can control how much sound comes in but I haven't bought any. Do u have hyperacusis?

I use foam earplugs for sleeping when at certain environments in which I dont want to be awaken too early by noisy neighbors. It was really uncomfortable at first but got used quickly.

@kingsfan I'm sort of opposite, when a get a day off (or 2!!) I feel like my old self (only more deaf in one ear) but without T & I go and do!!also after 2 yrs of Much isolation im going out some. It's a challenge to overcome the loud hipitched scream in one ear while trying to 'be present' with the other ear. But when it's spiking at a 9 I just have to isolate.

Your T shuts off completely for the day or 2? Thats great if so. How long has it been doing that? You have in just one ear correct?

You are going to be ok. Don't do anything to make it worse. Stay away from doctors and medicines. If you can work out good everyday to get sleep. Don't stress. It's just a sound. Protect your ears when out and about depending on how bad you are and stay away from all loud music places even with ear plugs. You are loved here and will receive the best info. Cause we have all made the mistakes for you.

The most important thing is to take it easy. Don't go to any noisy places, noisy events, and use protection when necessary. You still have a good chance of remission. Give yourself time. That's the only thing that can be done right now. Don't waste your time on useless doctors. Good luck!

Anthony is pretty much correct. Time and controlling anxiety will help you forward. Distract yourself and try to remain positive. It’s a battle for sure

Yeah, depression is crushing on top as Im just stuck at home alone. Unsure how this will end up but I am trying to protect my ears yet they continue to get worse/make new tones. I'll see that Dr. in August if I make it. Thank you for the caring comments!!

Generally, in my opinion, stay away from these support groups as well. Nothing useful to gain there. Tinnnitustalk is the best bet, with the most knowledgeable people and useful posts/updates.

Hey Max! Glad to see you on the forum. I saw your post.

Tinnitus/Hyperacusis gets better with time usually. Don't waste your time with ENTs (they are clueless about tinnitus) , they won't tell you anything useful, tell you "learn to love with it, it's not that bad", or they'll just tell you to do TRT which is useless and can make you worse.

The ENT are useless, they will laugh in your face and tell you to suck it up and fuck yourself. If they don,t do one of their stupid tests and they hurt you even more. If they didn,t exist,it would be even better.
