I've been taking 2400 of NAC for almost 2 weeks for OCD and to help with my benzo taper. I don't think there has been any spike associated with NAC, and I've been on multiple meds for a while (Luvox, Pregabalin and Diazepam).

I've read that Pregabalin is one of the nastiest drugs to come off from. Some people begin to have withdrawal symptoms even while on the same dose.

At higher doses Pregabalin closes potassium channels. Read up. I would avoid it as it's not the same MoA as Gabapentin. No wonder it has no support. We didn't really know until post 2018.

@linearb , I was thinking of you and wondering how you have been doing with the gabapentin reduction? On the pregabalin side, I dropped 25mg of pregabalin and the tinnitus went up a notch, plus my eye floaters became more prominent and I got restless leg type symptoms.

Aren't Pregabalin and Gabapentin supposed to be bad for tinnitus? I am not sure if T is a side effect for some of these drugs, but for Carbamazepine, which is similar drug type, it is. Also Gabapentin should be less ototoxic than Pregabalin.

BTW, anyone considered Lyrica (Pregabalin) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pregabalin ? Its considered the "better version" or sucesor of Neurontin, so should we give a try in combo with trobalt?, those who experienced benefits should have with this too

Have you tried Buspar? What about tricyclics, MAOIs, or even Gabapentin/Pregabalin? I believe Gabapentin is also used to help with benzo withdrawal if you do wish to slowly taper off of Xanax.

Some do, some don't. It may take a long time but I hope yours goes away quickly. There is a Facebook group called "lyrica survivors (pregabalin support)". You might join it but beware the nocebo effect

Pregabalin isn't ototoxic (a direct damage to the hairs inside cochlea) as far as I know. Not too sure about neurotoxicity tho but it should only affect the peripheral nervous system. I didn't find "T" as a possible side effect in the patient info leaflet either...

Is Gabapentin less ototoxic? My psychiatrist suggested switching to it due to my complaints. It's a bummer as Pregabalin is helping me a bunch with other symptoms from benzo tolerance/withdrawal.

Well I initially wanted it to take the place of Clonazepam which I intend to taper off. If the Pregabalin works I'll start to taper off the Clonazepam. Although in my Ototoxic drugs book the Pregabalin is a much higher risk than Clonazepam. Its just playing with fire really isnt it?

Thank you. It feels like I've become sensitive to sounds. And Pregabalin really helps me sleep so hopefully it didn't cause the new symptoms. And it is a low dose anyway. Thanks again.

I don't have any experience with Pregabalin, but Gabapentin increased my tinnitus while I was on it. It went back to normal after discontinuing. You'll probably just have to try a low dosage first and see what happens.

...a few days to help with the really bad paranoia.. then maybe switch off to a GABA-b agonist like baclofen for a few days and then again back to benzos (if possible, a few days break in between each switch.. this depends how long your taper with pregabalin will last).
