@antonio77: The fact that the acupuncturist elicited or aggravated your symptoms suggests that he hit a trigger point responsible for your symptoms at least in part. I think this is very encouraging and you should try acupuncture again or Trigger Point therapy (manual therapy).

Thanks for the tip about violet noise. I live in China and went to see an acupuncturist. They admitted the changes would be slight and take time. In all, they seemed to indicate acupuncture is of small but limited use. But if it helps, go for it.

To be more topical, I signed up for SimplyBetter, and I'm not very impressed with it, looks like pseudoscience bullshit to me (which doesn't mean it might not be helpful to certain people for certain things... but so is homeopathy and reiki and acupuncture).

Good luck hope it goes well for you, I have had 3 acupuncture treatments for T, it has helped with sleep and anxiety. Very expensive here and my insurance does not help defer the cost. Will need to find other methods to control my stress.

Yes, I think it has diminished. I'm not so bothered by it during the day any more. It's in the evening that I have the worst problems. I'm not giving up, though! Will continue using the UST daily, taking vitamins and herbs, acupuncture, etc.

I have seen 3 acupuncturists. None have helped. It actually made it spike more with the 1st. Same with Cranial Sacral Therapy, tried 2 therapists. These were covered under my plan. I did stay with the 3rd who I call the "Chi Master". I get a 2 hour acupuncture & cupping. I do find it relaxing.

@Lane I had been to acupuncture right after my tinnitus onset. However I didn't have hyperaucis at that time, maybe very mild hyperacusis but nothing serious. I didn't have any improvement on my tinnitus. But maybe it can help hyperacusis. For how long have you been pain free?

The audiologist and the acupuncture are good ideas. I am doing both and they are helpful. Still, I have days that are louder than others. When they come, I listen to the masking noises or classical music on my iPod and wait for them to pass.

I tried two of the three: acupuncture for 2 months and Vinpocetine for about 2 months. Neither improved my T. If I had to guess, I think it was the dexamethazone that may have caused the improvement over the other two. Interesting nonetheless. Thanks for posting

Goodcheer - Thanks for this information! I just may try what you are talking about. Perhaps I should try acupuncture? The MicroTransponder people are accessing this market to maximize their profit. They say that some tinnitus patients would pay $50K for a device that would eliminate tinnitus.
