I meditate to help fall asleep. After 5 months of doing that, I find it works really well. I have never been able to shut off my tinnitus with meditation though. Could you elaborate on what kind of meditation you do/how do you meditate? It seems to me you have the ability the utterly calm your...
Interesting thought that your friend thinks her tinnitus is related to her nervous system. It definitely sounds logical!
And great that you benefit from meditation. Perhaps one day I will try it. As of now I am still too traumatized by the new sound and loudness... Tinnitus is for sure...
Hi Karen,...There are numerous threads regarding experiences with Acupuncture. Just type in the word in the search feature which is in the upper right hand side of the home page or use this link directly.

The nerve blocking procedure in South Korea always struck me as some kind of ‘special’ acupuncture if I’m being honest. If I recall, they inject the needles behind the earlobe and then move them around physically when need be. The protocol does use Lidocaine injections.
I believe @Chinmoku...

Efficacy of acupuncture for tinnitus: an umbrella review
Background: Tinnitus is a condition characterized by an annoying auditory phantom sensation with a heterogeneous etiology, often associated with an impairment of health-related...
...medicine) but stopped after two days due to high blood pressure. I also spoke to two people who have had positive results with TCM and acupuncture. One person told me that they didn’t realize that their tinnitus of about 5 years was gone after doing weekly sessions of acupuncture until...
Here is one member's view on acupuncture which I agree.
"My therapist told me that acupuncture helps mostly to people who have stress induced tinnitus (mostly businessmen and such). With other kinds of T, the process of healing is very slow and long. Sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn't...
...I developed hyperacusis after taking Baclofen or Tegretol.
Thank you for your prayers. 🙏
P.S. I forgot to mention that I’ve started acupuncture. It helps calm me, but it only stopped my symptoms for about 30 minutes. I’m going again on Monday.
My applied kinesiologist friend suggested that...
I dream of the day I can become dependent on a device that will give me my life back, rather than an endless stream of SSRIs, benzos, sound therapy, hearing aids, Lenire, acupuncture, endless supplements and CBT, all of which helped not one whit.
Hi @Brian Newman -- I find acupuncture helps me as well. At one point it helped stop an episode of my ears burning after just one treatment. At other times, it helps bring a much deeper calm to my body and psyche, and my perception of tinnitus changes. From feeling like it's eating me alive, to...
I've tried acupuncture for tinnitus and also for my pollen allergy, but it didn't help for any of them. I strongly think that acupuncture is just a placebo treatment, or is just not useful for these type on conditions. Maybe it's useful for something else.
Sorry about your foot problem, from someone who also has foot problems. Instead of pills, I use weekly acupuncture treatments. These treatments are very good at reducing inflammation. You might consider this. Good luck.
The problem might improve with time. Even if the treatment is effective, the body still needs time to return to normal. Do you have a routine for stretching and strengthening your neck muscles, as well as relaxing your TMJ? All the treatments you’ve mentioned (chiropractor, masseuse) seem to be...
...barely sleeping and had to take a Benadryl after 5 hrs last night. I'm hearing a bunch of new sounds, too.
I've been reading all of the acupuncture threads searching for hope. Some say they improved with acupuncture. Some say that they got worse before they got better. I cannot imagine...
When my hyperacusis was severe I had several acupuncture sessions at a Chinese clinic and it always relieved my symptoms although the relief was short lived, as hyperacusis would flare up again in the presence of noise...
@ChrisBoyMonkey -- Sometimes I feel like I notice a "softening" after doing some acupuncture. Then when the volume goes back up, I wonder if I was imagining things. But as the months have gone by (about 19 now), I'm becoming more certain that it is helping.
I recently got a bad spike, and...
I had 4 acupuncture sessions. And treatment with herbal medicine given by the acupuncturist. And they made no changes to my tinnitus.
The only improvement I noticed was less stress.
...quite a few YouTube videos that demonstrate a number of points. My own acupuncturist who taught me how to do this says that 70% of acupuncture only involves about 6 major points. I'll try to find a video on those points that I regularly do.
How and Why Acupuncture Works (Demonstration) -...
...amount of attitude adjustment can resolve that fully.
Another way to enhance the body's production of GABA and improve sleep is through acupuncture. It is very safe and there are no side effects or risks of chemical dependency.
Point #34 on the gall bladder channel is particularly helpful...
There's no shortage of actual medical papers on Pubmed that demonstrate acupuncture and definitely help certain kinds of T. And western medicine isn't helping much so it's worth - the acupuncture and chinese medicine both - trying. Beats doing nothing. I'm going to be looking at doing it soon...
My sleep has been so bad I went to a hospital yesterday. They suggested giving acupuncture another try. I find it doesn't help much with the actual Tinnitus but it did help me sleep better. For some time I have been waking up feeling as though I have not slept at all. The acupuncture helps cope...
My tinnitus is a lot better now. It is about 0.2-0.3/10. I found that ample sleep helps as well.
I got my TCM Physician to do electro-acupuncture on me based on this research article.
For @Ronnie Yiew, if the tinnitus was triggered because of the cold water, it might resolve on its own over...
...than my usual tinnitus.
The only exception is omega-3, which I’ve been taking for many years.
Yesterday, I went for a massage with acupuncture, as my wife read it could help. My neck and back have been quite stiff lately. The massage ended up including some deep tissue work because the...
Acupuncture helps me, not to the point of relieving Tinnitus but to the point of relieving depression and anxiety. It calms me. The days I dont do acupuncture I really feel the down side. It does cost a bit mush. I pray the moxibustion works or relieves the T.
I would try acupuncture at a good clinic. Make sure the acupuncturist studied in China, they are better trained there. I still go twice a week; that’s the most noise I can manage. I can handle road noise on good days now with double protection. I still have 0 tolerance for high pitch noise...
So any more success stories of acupuncture working for you guys? I am considering it as a local acupuncturist claims to have a good success rate with curing it. Also have insomnia (maybe partly caused by the tinnitus). Anyone had success with improving insomnia with acupuncture? Thanks...
I think you misunderstood if you think Dr. Shore's device is glorified acupuncture. 20 years of scientific research and successful double-blind, sham-controlled trials doesn't lead to acupuncture. Best thing would be to read the thread. You give some good advice in other threads but I plead you...
Acupuncture as Complementary Treatment for Acute Tinnitus: A Randomized Controlled Pilot Study
Background: Up to now, tinnitus has been an almost non-treatable symptom affecting more than 18% of the population in industrialized countries. So far, there are only a few studies evaluating the...
The last paragraph of the article has a very positive statement, it reads as follows: "In a related study, researchers conclude that acupuncture combined with ginger moxibustion benefits patients with tinnitus. Researchers applied acupuncture and ginger moxibustion to 34 patients with...
When my T got worse in March I had soooooooo much noise. Acupuncture helped to quiet it down and leave me with less noises. (I still have quiet a few.) It did help with my higher frequencies. The area I'm at has limited acupuncture people and I've been curious to get it from a real Chinese...
@Thomas_83, tinnitus can spike a lot after that kind of treatment and acupuncture as it increases blood flow. Speaking from experience.
Usually it is what it is - a spike - and will calm down to baseline again.
...There were more negatives and neutrals than positives and for the positives there were methodology flaws.
And I am not claiming Acupuncture is ineffective. I never made that claim.
I am saying there is insufficient evidence to back up the claim it IS effective.
For conventional medicine -...
@billbauer I just remembered my T in my other ear came back for second time after getting acupuncture. During the acupuncture the practitioner had not left me in a very comfortable position and my neck got sore. I wonder if that precipitated the return of the second tone. The neck link with T...
