Alcohol relieves tinnitus for abit. At least for me. You should never go cold turkey with a severe addiction to alcohol. It can be deadly. Instead you should have slowly tampered off.

Alcohol may cause a spike but it last only until the body gets rid of it. Wouldn't take so long if it was alcohol only. People who have t and expose themselves to such noise play with fire and have to expect permanent damage. As simple as that.

The only thing I can think about is it might have been that I was drinking alcohol ( a few beers) a few nights between the loud impact and when it started, including the night before, so myabe my ear was a bit altered and the alcohol didn't help anything.

Yeah, some things are probably more likely to cause long lasting issues too. Certain things I won't stop for a temporary increase though. Like Ketamine for instance. Or drinking alcohol. Neither I do too frequently but I can deal with temporary increases. It's worth it for me.
